Its not just on the coaching, the players are the main ones to blame. Can't get any pass rush, can't cover and can't tackle.
You're right. But you can't fire every defensive player because they can't play well. Are you going to sub 5 defensive players for players that are worse than those 5?
You have to make a statement to the entire defensive side of the ball, and that has to be firing the D Coordinator. Pederson ain't going anywhere. The Defense hasn't been able to get more than 2 sacks in a game for what....8 weeks? The team TACKLES poorly. WR are consistently wide open.
That's too many holes to fill, and a statement needs to be made.

I guess you're right. If the refs would call three penalties on the Lions our defensive players would not be out of position, they wouldn't miss tackles, and our backs would stick to receivers like glue.

the odd thing is the defense was a strength early in the year. we havent suffered any serious injuries to key players. even if we couldnt get pressure one on one we were at least able to scheme a rush. even that is difficult now.
We cant bring Cullen back, hes D line coach at KC. who is there?
Wright would have missed that if kicking for us.

No I get what your saying. The backups aren't any better and they've got worse if anything as the seasons gone on. I don't think sadly letting Caldwell go would do much to make this D play better. Allen and Walker have done nothing for weeks and cant win their matchups, the DB's cant cover in man or zone and we have busted coverages all the time. The players need to step it up.

Chark with his season high in catches and yards. Against us.
They have scored on every possession.
ZERO punts by the Lions...who are 4-7.
Sure, it will be nice if the Jags could bring in a top level offensive guard in the off season, but they seriously need a different defensive scheme, and M. Caldwell has to go.
Lest we forget...there were at least 3 games this year where the Jags had the lead in the 4th quarter and conceded a go ahead score which lead to the other team winning the game.
