Celebrity-Backed Bail Fund Collapses Entirely, Now Facing Lawsuit After What Man Allegedly Did After Being Freed

A celebrity-backed jail reform group shut down and is now being sued after the group helped to free a criminal in 2021 who allegedly attempted to kill a waiter less than one week after his release, according to KLAS-TV.

So-called "bail reform" is turning out to be one of the worst ideas ever.

This wasn't bail reform.
The idea behind bail reform is that judges should use bail less for lower level offenses.  How much less and for which offenses is up for grabs, but it would be judges, police chiefs, and others all having an intelligent discussion about it.
This wasn't that.
This was rich celebrities who know nothing about crime paying bail amounts that the people who make their living dealing with criminals already set.  Of course they made poor choices along the way.
