Our defense uses 2 ILBs for 98% of its snaps.

Removing Oluokun would be the only way to put them both on the field and that would be insanity.

They are grooming Muma and Lloyd for a time when they can no longer afford Oluokun.

2025 will see Lloyd and Muma manning the middle on the final year of their rookie deals.
Until then it's one of the few positions on the defense with a good backup ready to go and that has already helped us this year when Lloyd was out.
I think Lloyd played well today. Especially with time being missed. His presence and impact in coverages this year Vs. his rookie season are night and day.

Damn near every game he's played in he's had his hand on the football at one point. Only a matter of time now before he hauls one in and takes it to the house.

You have to remember one of his thumbs is wrapped up in a hard brace. Plus, he just came out of surgery 3 weeks ago from when it was broken. I'm sure he favors it. He played hard. I won't faut him today.

Slap some stick em on it next time. I think he's doing good though in his 2nd year. He's not jumping out at me in a negative way and he's stood out in coverage in a good way.

Kamara will be a solid challenge Thursday night for the LB'ers. He's not in his prime anymore but he's still got some hands and wiggle to him.

It would be to run a 4-3 but with the way the defense has been playing I don't see them changing it anytime soon
It would be nice to be able to use Muma, Oloukun, and Lloyd together...

Maybe Muma would be able to adapt. But what do I know? Coaches should be figuring that stuff out...

Either way, we got a great LBer corps

It's just a hopeful dream.  Especially since we picked  Lloyd and Muma within the same draft class....  I just assumed they would want these 2 guys playing on the field at the same time, along with Oloukon
I’d like to see Lloyd on the edge during some passing downs.

We're really gonna be good at LB next year when we get Miller back.
Oluokon will most likely be a restructuring candidate in the offseason. Great player who I feel very comfortable pushing out his guaranteed money

Agreed. He is too good of a player to lose. I hope he retires a Jaguar at this point.

Next year is the last year on his deal

Muma is a 43 Mike.
Foye is better than either at either position, so one of them is a back up.
JA41 should either be the Sam or RDE in the 43 with Walker on the other end.

This isn't really that complicated, we drafted guys who are suitable for a different scheme than what we're running. Like we always do.

I'm not sure what Lloyd's stats were BUT he was ALL Over the field Thursday. He played more and had more tackles than Muma. He and that cast were Thumping.

NH3...
Muma is decent depth but Lloyd is coming into his own and we are starting to see the player that was at Utah. Lloyd and Oluokun is one of the best MLB duos in the league. I think we have a top 5 LB corps, a top 5 safety group, and a top 5 CB duo with Campbell and Williams with Herndon having the best year of his career and Brown starting to come into his own. Looks like this team is on the cusp of great things and will be even better when we get Little, Zay, Hamilton, and Campbell back. The tugboat as welll
Muma feels like another waste of a 3rd RD pick at this point. Along with Bigsby.

Not sure if you are serious, or just trying to make a joke.
Jags fans when Lloyd struggled last year:
Good thing we have Muma!

Jags fans when Lloyd is hurt this year:
Good thing we have Muma!

Jags fans when Lloyd is healthy and playing well:
Why did we waste a draft pick on Muma?
If you can get decent depth out of your 3rd round pick it's not a wasted pick. You have to have depth. To early to tell on Bisgby as he hasn't even played half a season yet lol. I think Bigsby ends up being a good pick
We have the most wasted picks/busts for a 5-2 NFL ever.

Dead serious. Muma has played in a few games in two years. He's not a starter. Seems like a waste of a pick that could have been put to better use.

Same goes for Bigsby just 7 weeks in. Not the only person here that feels this way on both accounts.

The reality? The team is 5 - 2 so nobody cares to call these things out in particular. Also, I am not calling these guys busts. Just like I haven't said that on Walker, Lloyd [when he's being grilled last year] nor Fortner.

It just seems like we're not allocating our assets properly and it's overshadowed by a 5 - 2 start but down the road? These kinds of choices could be the reason why this team can't get over the hump.
