This has been the best news all off season. Proud of this team. Proud of this move. I really am.
Smart move by FO.
only on thing to say...

SSMMMOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTT !!!
I dig it
I read the headline and my immediate thought was, Smoot resigned from the team?  Why?

Of course, he didn't resign.  He re-signed.  That's good news.
Very good news. Has always been a hard-working guy and consistently has been able to generate pressure. No need to rush him back, however, until he has recovered from injury. Hopefully someone like Abdullah can step-up until he returns.

The roster is looking very good as things stand now. If the offensive line is able to protect Lawrence, this team is capable of going far. I'm anxious to see how Little and Harrison do in the pre-season as well as the competition at nickel. Apparently they are interested in free agent Arthur Maulet who played nickel for the Steelers last season. I'd like to see them sign him and have an open competition between Herndon, Braswell, Hallett and Maulet hoping one will clearly win the job.
I'm ecstatic to have Smoot continue his tenure as an Jaguar. I'm not sure whether it's an one or multiple year extension but it's an extension. I'm leaning toward an one year prove it contract w/respect to his season ending injury last season. Here's to hoping that he's recovered and can truly contribute.

Time Will Tell.

NH3...
Yes! SMOOOOTT!
This is good news. After his injury last year, I had written him completely off. 'Kick him to the curb' I said. His recovery, and his dedication to his recovery, is amazing. It would have been irresponsible to allow a player with this kind of 'go' in his tank to play for another team.

Welcome back, Mr. Smoot.
Looking forward to seeing Smoot shine in the playoffs this year!
Was hoping to get Ngakoue or someone else in the rotation. Having Smoot back is great, always a contributor.
Need one more vet pass rusher to fill Keys spot

Respect for taking the time to spell Ngakoue instead of Yan or Yannick.

With that said, Walker is gotta put in work. Smoot gives us some security in those trenches.

Ngakoue might be asking for more money and we just don’t have the loot right now.

Thanks.. well,  it could be someone else like a Chase Young or something.
Nice, good depth.
Great move
Smooooooooooooooooooootttt!!!!
A HEALTHY Smoot a better value than Ngakoue. Smoot signed for about 3.5 mill guaranteed. Yea he has incentives worth a bunch more but if he hits them it will definitely be worth it to the Jags. Ngakoue is coming off a 2 year 26mill contract. I can't see him signing for much less. Yea Ngakoue had 9.5 sacks last year so what? He played 732 snaps last year, Smoot played 446. If you normalize Ngakoue's production down to 446 snaps you get the below productivity..

Ngakoue sacks 5.8, tackles 17.1, solo 11.6, assist 6.7, forced fumbles 0.6
Smoot sacks 5.0, tackles 21, solo 14, assist 7, forced fumbles 1

I looked back 2 and 3 years too. The results were about the same. Slightly more sacks but the tackles margin widened. Perhaps this is a symptom of him "getting his" at the expense of gap integrity? Who knows....

This is why as soon as the Ravens showed interest the Jags made their move.
