Interesting that when you add Smoot, you cut Quarterman and keep Chaisson.

Smoot is not on the 53 initial roster...it was just a note to indicate he will be added to the position group later (same as Robinson). I cut Quarterman and kept Miller, as I think Ventrell has more upside, speed and likely equal ST ability. I kept Chaisson and Abdullah as the initial roster primary OLB backups; I believe they can put Jordan Smith and maybe Coleman onto the PS and call them up if others needed at OLB.

alterations in red
Smoot likely pushes the 6th DL off the roster when he returns.
Momdeaux is on IR and I've read something about working on an injury settlement.

I knew he got banged up, but didn't know they were settling/releasing. I listed four other possibilities.
I think they want a larger number of bodies available for their NT and DT positions.
Tim Jones is making the roster. He offers gunner ability in kickoff team and punt team. He’s already forced a fumble last week @ Dallas.
They probably keep 4 backs which means Hasty will be on the team.
Quarterman looked rough against Dallas.
TeVaughn Campbell is situational with Claybrooks, Braswell, and Hallett. The 2 rookies have these next 2 games to separate but if they don’t get enough chances then Campbell stays. Claybrooks is a wildcard with his off the field issues which could mean Campbell stays and it will be between Hallett and Braswell.
Chaisson needs a miracle. I can get his production from a blitzing nickel back.

My changes are indicated in
orange.
Robinson takes Hance's spot when he returns.
Smoot most likely takes Vohasek's spot when he returns.
Hallet is the pick that I have the least confidence. At this point, I think it's almost a tossup between Hallet, Braswell, Brown and Tevaughn Campbell for that one spot. The last defensive line spot and last wide receiver spot are also still very up for grabs.
My roster does have 26 offensive players versus 24 defensive players. The main reason is that I believe our bubble defensive players will clear waivers and can go on the practice squad. We can call them up if we have a rash of injuries on defense. Our top offensive bubble players will be lost to other teams if we don't keep them on our 53 man roster.
Tim Jones is getting that last WR spot. They also said he is the only WR that can play all 3 spots including slot, left or right. He’s also the teams gunner on kickoff and punt team. He’s also the best ‘gunner blocker’ on the team.

This makes sense as I don't see any of these guys (Jones, Cooks, Harris, Williams) actually taking WR snaps away from our core WR group.
Either those Detroit db's are tidlers or Cooks is a hell of a good size ... I haven't been able to keep up as much as if have liked this pre-season so I didn't recognise the name ... Assumed he was a TE when I saw the highlights!
I haven't seen enough to pretend to offer a valid opinion on his comparative merits compared to Jones ... but if that size is as advertised and the aim for a sixth or even seventh receiver is simply to have as many different chess pieces as possible it'd be very easy to see a creative co-coordinator being enamoured by the possibilities for big boy receiver packages especially down at the goalline.
There’s no reason to keep 7 WRs and each roster spot is precious. Lageman said the 6th WR’s job is to play 4 core special teams along with the 4th RB.
Hasty has value in the return game as a backup. And Jones is the best gunner on the team along with Claybrooks. Logs said the team keeps 6 WRs and 4 RBs.
I agree with Cooks. He’s a beast and could make a lot of rosters across the league but with our WR unit being a strength, it becomes a numbers game and there’s no room.
Dude is averaging over 15 yds per catch.

I think the big questions:
1) Is tim maxed out, or can he develop into anything more than gunner/blocker?
2) Are any of the other WR on the bubble more promising, enough so that keeping a guy solely for ST play isn't worth it?
3) If we do have to call the 5th WR into action, which do you prefer? Tim or one of the bubble WR?
I'll agree with other sentiment that in the perfect world we see the 5th WR on rare occasion.
This is the Dewey Wingard conundrum on the other side of the ball - Mediocre if called to play downs 1-3, but excels on 4th. Is that enough to keep over other guys who may have more to offer on downs 1-3?
Waiting to see what people do in the last preseason game.. someone may pull out a last ditch effort.

Will be fun to try and analyze WR blocking assignments from Seth W, E Cooks and others vying for that spot.
They need to show something there to have a chance.
I feel certain we'll lose two WRs from our PS to poaching by other teams this year and they may both end up better than Allen Lazard whom we lost that way years ago (who is an overrated player IMO anyway)

I think Jordan Smith, Cole Van Lanen, Daniel Thomas, TeV Campbell and Tim Jones stay. I think it's a changing of the CB guard, Thomas is as important to Teams as Claybrooks is, and Wells is washed up. The injury to Hodges might also mean an additional lineman like Williams or Chandler Brewer sticks around.

I doubt we ever know what Tim, or any of the other #5/6 receivers could be until these guys go elsewhere. Heck, Agnew doesn’t get many targets at #4. Tim, Cooks, Williams and Pryor have all shown they can catch the ball. I’d be fairly confident if any of them had to fill in. Washington shows he has value on ST, and TJ is a proven commodity in that role.
Feels like several of the kids we are looking at for #6 could very possibly be a #3/4 receiver for some other teams.
