It might have been the best deal.  Or not.  Why are you sure it wasn't? I'm being skeptical. You're being naive, but your naiveté is guided by hatred for Biden.

You don't make a deal, simply because it's the best, or only, offer of the moment.  If you had any experience in negotiations, you would understand this.  If the value isn't there, you walk away.  Griner for Bout was simply a terrible trade.

I don't hate Biden, I'm just not blind to his incompetence like you are.

Most people are able to state their disagreement without having to delve into the personal history of the person they are disagreeing with. If you had any friends you would know that.

Also I own a house and two cars. I've negotiated many times, just like most people my age.

Sorry, I should have said competence, not experience.   Congratulations on your Prius, I hope you got a better deal for it than Biden got for Griner.

P.S.  I do have friends and a couple of them are actually Democrats!  Can you believe it?  Even they recognize what a terrible trade it was.  I'm surprised that someone with your vast negotiating experience can't see that reality.

I agree that it wasn't a great deal to trade someone who had like 15 years left on their sentence for someone who had 9, especially when Griner's sentence would have only been like a month if she was a Russian citizen. It's not fair or right.
Biden could have left them both in jail waiting for a better deal, or he could have imposed additional economic sanctions, then offered to remove them in exchange for the prisoners. No guarantee that either tactic works, though.
My buddy at work, I thought he got a bad deal on his house. He thought so too.  "I should have waited until the market cooled down" he said at the time. He bought in 2020.  Look at him now.
In any case, even if Biden did negotiate poorly, it has nothing to do with kneeling or being black or being gay.

Now your naivete is guided by cynicism.
No more or less valid than hatred.
Skepticism is the only stance supported by the record.

Sure, and new the senator in California appointed by Newsome that happens to be a black lesbian woman is just coincidence and I'm being cynical....please

You're missing the key point; it has everything to do with it.  Go back and read Biscuit's post, he summed it up perfectly.  A heterosexual, white male (who was stupid enough to smuggle cannabis into Russia) would still be there, and we would still have Bout.  But then, manna fell from the heavens in the form of Britney Griner.

Newsome has been pretty open about his decision making process for appointing a new Senator.  It's reasonable to take him at his word.

Biden and Putin were not at all open about the process of those negotiations. We have nothing to go on but assumptions.

And anyhow, who cares? Go be jealous of black lesbians if you want. It's not a good look.

Just calling a spade a spade, that is all.  You're right, it is all assumptions, but just based on past history of their party and politicians in general, I think it's a pretty safe assumption.  It doesn't really matter at the end of the day, I'm not even sure why we're talking about this anymore.

I agree.  There is no need to discuss it and it shouldn't have been brought up.
Lol.
