From the post..

"Time reporter Eric Cortellessa claims that Jordan's supporters have circulated FEC documents showing that Scalise has spent more than $500,000 from his congressional campaign account at Capital Grille since 2011.

Scalise recently won a closed-door vote to become the Republicans' favored candidate. But the Louisiana Congressman now lacks the votes, and is expected to withdraw from the contest.

The Time report claims to shed light on the smoky backroom machinations undertaken to boost conservative favorite Jim Jordan.

Allies of Ohio congressman Jim Jordan reportedly sabotaged Steve Scalise's bid to become Speaker by accusing him of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars at a Washington, D.C. steak restaurant.

"They are saying it reveals Scalise to be a creature of the 'Washington swamp' and establishment—another sign that Republicans are not ready to corral around a single candidate. Some are preparing for a lengthy and bitter fight," Cortellessa posted on X.

The report that Scalise has spent immense sums of money at the steakhouse surfaced after the Louisiana congressman defeated Jordan to become the Republican nominee for the next House Speaker."
No more secret meetings behind closed doors!!

Everything should be done on The House Floor in front of everyone..

I trust none of those losers..
Only the GOP could have their selected candidate drop out of being the House Majority Leader because he spent a half million dollars on steak !!! Are they sure that wasn't Chris Christie's cumulative tabs?

For once, we agree.

Even Jordan is not a slam dunk. He does great work but it never amounts to anything, he's king of strongly worded letters.

Thankfully it seems at a local level, a lot of the rino and neo cons are being kicked out everywhere. Once that happens in enough places, the party can be overtaken.

And then what?
What is your goal?
What policy would change?

If you have to ask, then you won't allow yourself to see that republican voters have no representation.

Nothing has to change with the platform, the leaders will just actually believe in it and implement it.

Jim Jordan is the best of a bad situation.

Probably the only option that could get enough votes. He won't be able to do any committee work with the time requirements and other crap that will have to be done. The RINOs will still stop any real change from happening.

His speakership would be successful if he could get some level of single subject bills passed. Also need to do something about all the committees keeping bills from coming to the floor for votes. Any bill should be able to be brought to the floor to force votes on it.

The leaders may or may not believe in it.  You assume you know what a guy who lies for a living believes?
The fact is that even when they have a majority on paper, not all of the members elected are ever on board with every element of that platform.  There are usually 10 or 20 members who speak up and say, "I'm not going to go with that".  How can you prevent such members from being elected?
And it's a moot point right now because they don't have the Senate and don't have the white house.
I'm so over the GOP it's a dead party at this point

True, but if this little game ends, public order and elections end along with it.

So are saying you are content with the status quo as opposed to fixing this thing that we all agree is broken?

I know asking Mike a direct question concerning his core values is like trying to nail jello to a wall.  I have hopes that one day he actually provides an honest answer.
