I know that I am in the minority, but I prefer the sudden death OT rules.

New postseason overtime rule: if the score is tied when the game clock reads 4th quarter 0:00, ignore the game clock and keep playing until the next score. Keep playing under the 2 minute rules.  The end.  Easy.  If the last timed play is a 3 yard gain on 2nd and 7, the next play is 3rd and 4.  Simple.  No coin flips.

I dig the first part. No OT in the regular season.

For the second, I think there is merit to having timing, if only for breaks at the end of the period and opportunity to change fields/direction. Doesn't mean as much in a dome, but open air stadia and grass fields switching end zones can be a huge difference maker.  Also, if you just continue play, that takes away the impetus to attempt a long field goal to end regulation. 3 seconds left, you're at the 35, 3rd and 2. Make them try the FG! It's a 52 yarder, but to me it's more exciting for a kicker to score the walk-off than to go to break, come back, and run a draw play to get a first, run 6-7 more plays, and kick a 27-yard chip shot.

But yeah, sudden death all the way. Each team had 60 minutes to get the dub. Whoever scores after that wins. Full stop.

It would be up to the other team to try to prevent you from having the ball when the clock strikes 0:00.  The other team might take a gamble and go for it on 4th down rather than try to punt and pin you back deep with less than a minute left.
