The Mt. Union kid looks like a man among toddlers in some of his games, but that's D3 competition and his metrics just aren't very good. Lots of deep balls where he's free and clear, but way too many contested catches that he wins because the defenders aren't very good at that level. I think Cephus is the better of the two candidates as well.
The only UDFA for the offensive line is Steven Jones. That means he and Javon Foster are the only new offensive linemen coming in so far.

I hope Doug expands his thinking when it comes to offensive linemen. I know Jones can't move laterally very quickly...but if it's 4th and one...and you want to do a QB sneak....Steven can probably take care of the guy across from him and not get pushed back.

Just sayin. 6'5, 330 lbs...who played at a top 10 school..hope he has a good camp.

I hope so as well, but I don't know if they'll choose to take two rookies into the regular season. Hopefully both Foster and Jones are far and away superior to the other guys and they are forced to take that chance. I'd love a 2025 line of Harrison - Cleveland - Morse - Jones - Foster if those guys work out.

I hope they work out as well. Somehow I get the feeling the Jags are not done with the O-line this year. Is more of a feeling like waiting for the other shoe to drop.

It's more affordable. Almost all of the top teams in the NFL have a habit of drafting and developing their offensive lineman from a wide variety of rounds. Detroit and Green Bay in particular standout in this regard.

Foster would probably make for a solid RT. Harrison could be a great fit at LT. Cleveland at LG is interesting. We need Scherff's and Morse's replacements ready to go though for 2025.

Having that extra 3rd and 4th RD pick in next year's draft could go a long way in the grand scheme of things in finding those replacements. Risner is also out there still. Cleveland's replacement from the Vikings last year. Would be good to bring him in. Andrus Peat is also out there at OG.

I'd expect a mid-season trade if Scherff gets a flat tire and the backups haven't distinguished themselves at that point. I think teams every year have to roll the dice that key players don't miss time at shallow spots. Very few teams have quality depth in all areas. It's disappointing though that interior O-line keeps getting shortchanged.

With the portal the last few years, someone playing that well would have had a spot and NIL if he was any good. Unless his on the field play is better than his measurements, he won't have a chance.

Agree and the concerning part is I fully expect injuries to occur again, it’s constant and almost seems unavoidable.

30 receiving TDs in one season is very impressive no matter the competition level.

Yeah clearly he has a knack for getting open
I’m thinking that Jones may be a candidate for the practice squad and Foster should make the 53.

As long as he doesn't get snatched up by another team I'm ok with that. Young oline talent shouldn't just be hidden away.

It says something that he's the only UDFA lineman they are bringing in.

I'm sure they'd like to protect a lineman of his size by rostering him if he looks good in camp, but it will come down to injuries and active/inactives at other positions eventually. The numbers game often exposes guys like him to poaching if he's not a primary backup as a rookie.

He had 30 in one season? Holy [BLEEP]. A little crazy he didn't end up getting drafted.

D3, short at 5'11", slow at 4.8 40. I know it's not the end all be all, but a 1.66 RAS score? Yeah, the guy is a D3 legend; I just don't have much hope that he's anything special in the NFL.

Agreed.  I do not really care how the UDFA's played in the past. Now they are in our camp what will matter is how they do here. ALOT of the CB's they will be facing will be taller, heavier and 4.3 guys with a 10yd burst of 1.50 to 1.51. This is a very different level of football. What got college players open in college WILL be different now. Below I went and got some numbers for everyone just to provide some universal metrics for discussion. I included the tight ends as a reference.  My take is both TE's will be on the 53 as well as Kirk, Thomas, Davis and Duvernay.  The rest are more or less fighting for a spot.  Now it is fair to say the receivers above the line do have a head start over those below the line. I hope I didn't miss any.  Enjoy.

Hallett is a corner and I saw Ruby's 40 listed at 4.86; otherwise this is spot on and the issue for those lower guys.

Oh, I thought that was in regards to Joshua Cephus. Didn't know much about Ruby. I am mostly looking forward to what Cephus can do with his height and speed.
