You guys will never be informed because you lack common sense.

I have enough common sense to realize and understand that yours, or anybody's (no matter the side) favorite politician doesn't give two [BLEEP] about you and never will. No matter how much you think he/she actually does.

They are professional liars.

Wake the [BLEEP] up dude.

Oh, so you've clearly never read my posts. Got it. Continue to argue with your caricature of me.
I don't know much about JD Vance, but I do know that he has a very good looking wife.

While I agree with your opinion about politicians, I do believe some may have started out with the genuine intent to make things better in their communities. Unfortunately, the power they have grown accustomed to leads to corruption. They are willing to surrender their integrity in order to remain in power due to the advantages (attention, financial, etc) which their political position offers them.  And yes, both parties are equally guilty of this.

This is true. Another factor, which all politicians encounter, is once elected they become cogs in the party political machine. The altruism they ran on becomes watered down or replaced by the dictates of the party. It isn’t long before they’re compromising their beliefs in order to get along to advance in the machine. This is especially true in DC.

A movie made 90 years ago explores party politics and corruption and is as applicable today as it was then: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington starring James Stewart. It’s worthy of a watch.

Party machines are basically dead these days.  They have very little money or influence.
Each candidate is more or less on their own when they start out. Guys like McConnell and Rick Scott are trying to  build PACs that might play the role the party used to play but they haven't gotten there yet.  So each candidate has to spend a lot more time than they used to finding their own set of donors.

Sweet Jesus on toast. I had to look that movie up because I thought you were making up how old it was. It really is damn near 90 years old.
Vance's clean shaven face from several years ago elicits an urge to punch reflex in me. I'm glad he decided to go with the beard.

Yes, that was a very good movie. James Stewart is one of my favorite old-time actors. He could also be very funny as evidenced by some of his visits to the Johnny Carson show.

Dude, you're talking [BLEEP] to the wrong guy. L2L is hardly as you describe him. Others sure, not him. If you're going to talk [BLEEP] at least know what you're talking about.

Most of us know politicians don't give a rat's [BLEEP] about us, but we all have a vested interest in their policies because they affect us. Some are emotionally vested, caring about personality defects more than policies. The rest of us live in the real world knowing we don't have to like a politician to appreciate their policies.

Plus, it's the off-season are people are bored so they come here to shadowbox each other.

I'm not talking [BLEEP] to him, he's the one who came at me with some dumb assumption because he got triggered for whatever reason at the truth.

I'm telling you all the truth of the matter. You all are brain washed when it comes to politics. Both sides.

All of their policies are bull [BLEEP] and non sense. They're lying to you. Your favorite news/media channel is lying to you. Anything politic related is lying to you and meant to divide us. It's all bull [BLEEP].

To be so emotionally invested into something so corrupt is the problem, yet you guys eat that [BLEEP] up. It's pathetic.

The powers at be do whatever the [BLEEP] they want and will continue to do it no matter what you sheep believe, that's what they want. They control this country and will continue to control it because they can and you sheep blindly follow/allow them to. Again, it doesn't matter what side you blindly follow.

It's literally proven every single election year. Fake ballots, false voting etc. blah blah blah. They know it and the powers at be eat that [BLEEP] up. They're laughing at you while they're cashing in.

I work every day, pay taxes and live a normal life. Does that mean I'm not living in the real world? Or is it because I don't suck the dick of corrupt scumbag politicians, that I'm not living in the real world?

Sounds like you're just as emotionally invested as the one's you throw stones at.

Listen, I get it. The way you feel is how I mostly felt and still feel to an extent about the whole system.

I just have to try. I know it probably has the same effect as throwing a penny in a fountain at your favorite mall when you were growing up, but, we all need something to believe in.

However, the more I see. The less I believe. Even if Trump is the real deal, or, some high scale, new age, deepstate psy-op being fed to the people for whatever means to an end?

I just feel like I need to try. After him? I don't know what to think or feel anymore. Nor who to trust. That alone is hard enough as it is.

I just fear for my four year old son's future. I worry about the social experiments that have been happening. I worry about my $80K salary not being good enough barely in this economy to keep up with raising a family and rising inflation.

Something has to give. If I vote? And I am wrong? So be it. I'll eat my crow and [BLEEP] on him every chance I get. It is what it is.

I'll see you in the Jaguars thread on gameday's man.

The system can be improved in some ways, but not in ways that fix most of the problems Eric1 describes.

I am totally with you except for the bolded.
Yes there are elites out there just doing whatever they want no matter who we elect.
However, the people we elect are actually accountable to us and our elections are real.
If it were not so we would quickly become like Russia.  They guy in power would punish people who say things against him on TV and such.
This is why I am so zealous to maintain faith in our elections.
