Well, the Democrats need to find a couple million votes to salvage this thing and that takes time.

Probably not.
The Republican elites tried that after 2012. Didn't work.
The party will eventually reset, but I don't think the Democrats in power today can really reset it.
Total number of voters overall appears to be up yet again.
Very hard to predict what happens when more and more people with no voting history start showing up to vote.
Trump also won the popular vote as well. Too big to rig!
