Just curious who people have seen that put on a good show.

I saw Springsteen this summer in Paris and it was by far the best show I have ever seen.  he played for just short of 4 hours and didn't stop between songs. He played a double encore and, at 62 yrs old,  crowd surfed during Hungry Heart.

I went into the show as a casual fan, going to the show to see a legend perform as much as for the catalog of music, but came out of it a serious fan.

Anyone else have some good experiences with concerts? If so, what made the show great?

I've seen many showz but none as good as Papa Roach around 2001. Sounded amazing and the singer jumped from about 20ft into the crowd. People were super into it with the moshing and whatnot
White Zombie & Pantera.. What made it great? It was their Astro Creep 2000 tour, and I got to see Dimebag before his passing.

2nd best has to be Marilyn Manson.. Great show. Was his Antichrist Superstar tour..
underoath this past summer in orlando during their reunion tour. for a screamo band they have some an amazing sound live

Hard to pick just one. One of my favorites was David Lee Roth in '86 at the Lakeland Civic Center. I had just started playing guitar myself, and after the first few minutes of seeing Vai and Sheehan dominate their fretboards, I wasn't sure if I wanted to go home and burn my guitar, or pick it up and never put it down.

Earlier this year I saw another guitar hero of mine, Andy Timmons, at a club in Ft Lauderdale. His set was fantastic, then while watching the next guitarist perform (Jennifer Batten), I turned to see Andy standing next to me watching the show. He was gracious enough to talk to me for a few minutes, and we both geeked out over Jennifer's playing. It was surreal to be hanging with Andy like he was just another fan.
one of the late 90s warped tours or a portion of the Harvest for hope a few years back.  Some of the fests in gainesville have been pretty epic

Bon Jovi at Metlife stadium.
The best opener/headliner combination was The Elvin Bishop Band opening for ZZ Top. Elvin Bishop was so good my friends and I worried he'd upstage the main attraction, but ZZ Top was fantastic. It was before they discovered synthesizers and were still a 3 man blues boogie power trio.

Honorable mentions:

Ziggy Marley with several Marley siblings at the Florida Theater.

The Pretenders at the Florida Theater, or a few years earlier in Gainesville. The Florida Theater show gets the nod for acoustics and intimacy.

3 Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers concerts, hard to pick between them, they were all excellent. One was in Gainesville, a homecoming for him that was filmed for a documentary about Petty's career.

Led Zeppelin in 1973 at the old JVMC. It would be #1 if not for that venue's awful acoustics.

I envy you, Vicbow, for catching The Boss in Paris. His concerts are legendary, I've never seen him live.

Rush at the Charlotte Coliseum, 1988

Metallica/Queensryche, Jax Coliseum 1991

Indigo Girls, Florida Theatre 1991

Blue Oyster Cult, Shades Orange Park 1992

Buckcherry, Some nightclub in Jacksonville, NC, 2006

The Monkees at The Florida Theatre the year before Davy Jones died.

Neal Diamond at the Arena the year it opened.

The Grass Roots 6 times.

Trans Siberian Orchestra every Christmas.

Dave Matthews Band in Dallas a few years ago was great.

Local Celtic favorites Rathkeltair and Albannach every March.

I was at that Indigo Girls show. They were very good. A lot of power from 2 women and acoustic guitars.
Shinedown acoustic set at Freebirds or Godsmack during their first album days.
I've seen a few good ones. The two that will always stand out for me were Roger Waters' The Wall tour back in 2011 and The Airborne Toxic Event in 2013. Seeing The Wall was more or less the realization of a dream. I've seen Airborne three times, and they never fail to impress, but that night was special. It was the smallest venue I've seen them in, my wife and I were right up against the shockingly low stage, and I got a face full of sweet violin player booty before lifting her off the stage when it seemed like she was about to fall on me.

Coldplay, their tour right now, is legit. One Republic is always a good one too.

Ah, back when nu-metal ruled the metal scene. Not surprised they put on a good show back then.

I saw both Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson at Mayhem Fest back in 2009 and 2010. Rob Zombie killed it. He puts on a great show with the pyro and props and everything. I thought Manson was ok. He was probably a lot better around the time you saw him.

They do. I'll never forget seeing them at the first annual mayhem Festival. It started storming during their set and lightning struck and completely killed their PA. It was the loudest BOOM I have ever heard and I thought I was dead.
Prince

James Taylor

Lollapalooza (the first) - insane lineup

I have a few that I had trouble picking from.

Less Than Jake opened for Bad Religion.  Great show.  Less Than Jake is my favorite band ever so this may be bias.

Jimmy Eat World / Green Day / Blink 182 - Green Day should have been the headline. They put on a phenomenal show.

LMFAO / Ludacris / Black Eyed Peas - I bought this for my wife and a friend for Christmas so I tagged along. We were on the floor and were right up front where Fergie was.  They all put on a great show.

Been to ~ 100 Stadium & Arena concerts including the following shown below.  I'd have to say from an overall entertainment perspective, Springsteen by far puts on the best & most energetic performance.  From an overall atmosphere and by far the most musically inclined band and fan base, there's nothing like a Grateful Dead concert

Springsteen - 16x starting with The River Tour in November 1980.

Grateful Dead (when Jerry was alive) / Jerry Garcia Band - 29x

Neil Young - numerous

Tom Petty - numerous

Widespread Panic - numerous

I have to really think back because I quit listening to rock and roll a long long time ago, and I know you guys are talking about rock and roll.

I'd have to say Elton John in Bloomington, Indiana, in (I think) 1976.

Other than that. I guess Jethro Tull in the Jax Coliseum around the same time period.
