Doug is smart and technically capable, but unfortunately we also had to find out (the hard way) that he is naturally lazy. This team lacks leaders on the players and coaching sides.

You think Doug is the 2nd best coach in franchise history? Obviously Tom is number 1. But is Doug any better than JDR or Gus Bradley, his record says he’s not and they were not world beaters by any means. I’d give him the nod over Mularky and Urban so at best he is the 3rd worse coach we’ve ever had.

Gus had a 14-48 record here...
Jack had a 68-71 (69-73 if counting playoffs) record here.
Doug is currently 20-25 (21-26 if counting playoffs).
He's at the worst, the 3rd best HC we've ever had, but I still think the ship has sailed.

Jack benefited from having the remains of the Coughlin Era his first several seasons here. Doug got to clean up the mess Meyer and Caldwell left on the floor then the glory of working with Baalke. I'd say Pederson did significantly more with infinitely less in his tenure. Hell, the aging Jimmy Smith and Fred Taylor were better in their last two seasons in Jax respectively than any player has been during Pederson's time here. I agree his time is likely over, but damn, people really have no ability to be objective about what he did here.

All that said. It's nice to know that we can finally get rid of Baalke and Pederson.

JDR was a good coach. He was hampered by a QB that, while I love him, was not a good QB. I kept telling people during that time, who would we get that was better?
When we fired JDR we went into a 20 year wilderness. Garrard was a good QB, but he was a one read QB that nobody coached up. He was a baller though. And when we got rid of JDR, it was all over for the franchise.
The only thing that we should be happy for is that Weaver sold out to a dude that was cool with keeping this franchise here in Jacksonville. Shad Khan, for all his faults kept his promise to Weaver and this city. You gotta give him his flowers. He could have easily sold out this city. But he didn't. I'll always respect Khan for what he did for this city. I was a hater on him for a while. But man, the dude is the most honest billionaire there is. And we're lucky to have him.

One of the thoughts that has come to mind on this end when watching the Lions running game when its dominating games, is the running game the Jaguars frequently had under JDR, especially in the 2006 and 2007 seasons. The Jaguars Offensive Line/ run blocking, with MJD and Fred Taylor running behind them, had many 10 + play drives that chewed up clock, and took a heavy toll on the opposing Defense physical and mentally. Those Jags teams thrived on the ground in the elements. Games in Philadelphia (very windy day in 2006) and Pittsburgh (in snowy conditions) jump out. The Jags had a 20-play drive (I believe it was in the game at Philadelphia) in one of those games. I can't recall seeing a 20-play drive before or since.
