Of all the bad seasons, this one has been the most deflating as a fan with the expectations preseason. All the other horrible seasons, went in knowing probably going to be bad. Barring injuries, never expected #1 overall pick bad for this season. That’s what makes this one hurt the most.

2018 has to rank up there, as well.

2018 was rough, but in the range of outcomes IMO. Bortles, super likeable guy, but not a franchise QB. The 2017 was winning in spite of him. So many things have to go right to win in spite of your QB, just feels like the wheels can fall off any second, and it did just one year after.
This year, Trevor’s 3rd year under Doug/Press was really expecting the offense to take a leap. Thought an O-line of 2nd year Anton, Cam, Ezra, Morse, Scherff would provide ample protection and a complimentary run game with ETN. As we now know it didn’t. Defense is one of the worst units all time. Never saw #1 overall pick in the range of outcomes at all, at least for me.
Also, the lack of hope for the right decisions to be made are really what drag this ship down. Khan has never done a full tear down, and many even forget that Baalke was already with the Jags when Caldwell was fired. We hired a new GM from within, keeping scouting/personnel from Caldwell. Many are anticipating Doug and Trent being let go, but I’m not going to give that sort of hope. It’s never happened before, what this organization does best is take your sliver of hope and spit back [BLEEP] in your face.
Optimism is dead, that’s what sucks the most IMO as a fan right now.

This was the most unexpected bad season ever. I know it will hurt draft status, but I’d still like to see wins for this team. I’m looking forward to the game versus the Texans tomorrow.

This game doesn't effect my daily life like it used to. I'll be a fan of this team until it either moves or I die, but it will not get the best of me anymore.. Jags can win every game of the season, doesn't put food on the table or keep us safe.
The only way I can protest my dislike is by to stop purchasing the gear and tickets. I'll take that same money that I would spend on a game or new jersey of my favorite player that will not be on the team in 4 years, and take the wife out for dinner or buy her a gift or two..
That's my key to happiness.. May not work for everyone, but works for me.
I’m not renewing my season tickets. I can deal with the perennial losing, but I’ll be damned if I continue to lay out thousands to watch it.
Didnt you make this same proclamation last year?

I don’t remember doing so, but if I did, well…I really mean it this time. Yessiree!

LOL
Yeah, me too
I've only gone to two games this year and I sold my tickets for tomorrow's anticipated disappointment.
I'll pick up a few single game tickets next year if they don't totally suck, but I'm not renewing my seats.
I have been to every home opener except 1 in the last 10 or 15 years. I went to the Browns game this year and that was enough for me. The only way ill go to another game this year is if we win the next 4 ill go to the last home game. So it looks like I wont be going to another game this year. Ill be at the home opener again next year when there is a little hope. I just bought a 100" TV on a black Friday deal and got a new surround sound so its almost like being at the game lol

With Khan's history he probalby will not clean sweep the front office so the vicious cycle seems to keep repeating. It's like the Jaguars average 1 good season every 5-6 years. The Jaguars to be blunt are Hope Killers. They get to a point that gives one hope they are on pace to become consistent winners and then just stomps on your hope. That trickles down to the players. This Sunday coming up I will watch but have little hope of being entertained. I guess I am a masochist because I have been a fan since day 1 and can't stop watching but know deep down going to wind up disappointed in most cases. I haven't checked lately but I remember reading a few years back that the Jaguars were the most losing Franchise in NFL history under Shad Khan.
I have taken steps to kinda step back from the product. Last week I turned it off in the third quarter because it was more frustrating than entertaining to watch. The rest of the season is a no win situation:
A. If we win most of the games against inferior team: There is little doubt in my mind that Khan would run it back with the same personal. If we squeak out 3-4 wins, I can see Khan with that Typical Speech: "The Jaguars are on the right track, yada, yada, yada."
B. If the Jaguars continue the same level of pathetic play: It's flat out boring to watch. The defense gets slowly driven down the field while the offense has 3 plays and out.
C. If Lawrence Comes back: I think it would be stupid to risk him in this lost season but Doug is trying to save his job. Lawrence is clearly better than Mac but Lawrence isn't a world beater either. The team was 2-7 before Lawrence got hurt and Lawrence himself has missed many open throws this year.
Just looking at were we were 3 years ago and where we are now: Lawrence was suppose to be this unbelievable talent to save the franchise or at the very least be a Great QB (hasnt happen), The team has had many high round draft picks since then and most just aren't good players. Clearly Baalke has failed to secure the talent but he seems to have the back pocket of the owner. Maybe things will change after the season but right now It's hard getting excited for Jaguar football. It's kinda depressing when you look at the Detroit Lions and they were in our same spot just a few years ago.
I read your entire post in Dan Hicken’s voice. You even say “yada yada yada” just like he does. He calls himself a masochist. The only reason he turns it off in the 3rd is because his parlay won’t hit. “Run it back” was something he said a million times after the 2023 season. And your (hasnt happen) is something he says and him and Jeff always compare the Jaguars to the Lions. “Vicious cycle”…”Lawrence was supposed to be this unbelievable talent”…..is this Daniel ?
Bro the excitement has been gone since like week 3. And now that Trevor is probably done for the year there’s not even a reason to watch. I will, but idk why.

If you still had excitement this far down the road, I want a big fat bag of whatever you been snortin
Started watching the Orlando Magic… usually don’t tune in until after football season. But their grittiness and toughness is a refresher after watching Jaguars games this year. Plus they have won 12 of their last 13 without their best player.

THis is the healthy way to go. It's a game, it's laundry, it's a pastime. Enjoy the wins, learn from the losses, join a message board to commiserate with other folks who are just crazy enough to cheer for the same.

If Black Monday passes with no news, I agree 100%. The only thing we have to look forward to at this stage are the firings.

Dang, it took you until the end of November to get to this point? I moved on after their London trip. The season was clearly lost by that time.
2018 was horrific, but... They set it up for future drafts well and then whizzed it all down the drain. This year is the culmination of collapse and bad ownership decisions. Drafting Trevor was a no brainer so no fan credit there. This organization is awesome other than the drafting, free agents, coaching, general manager, and front office. I mean at least the uniforms have improved and the stadium deal is moving forward.
Edit:
Since we don't need another thread
What radical plans would you look at if you were the owner of the team? Would you make a clean sweep up to and including trading Trevor for as much future draft capital as possible? Would you keep selling the fans that we are so so close to competitive year in and year out success?
I understand this Mind Set BUT, I'll Never be gone from our team Win or Lose. During our past two home games I received an Family Emergency call and had to leave the game. I lasted 10 into the Vikings Game and 1 hr. prior to the start of the Texans. NEVERTHELESS, I'll continue to show up even if I'm called away again and again. I feel privaledged to be able to attend ALL Jaguar home games (except across the pond) and I'll NEVER take this for granted.
NH3...

I've said it before but you can't trade Trevor, even if you wanted to. No team can take on the dead cap even if it was split 50/50.

Understand. Just stirring up for conversation. I guess we are going to keep skimming along the bottom until we aren't anymore.
Edit:
I sure hope it happens soon because they are getting TLaw destroyed.

From a sports fan perspective, the Jags are depressing to root for
There are a couple of magical seasons here or there that were fun, but as a whole, the organization can’t seem to get out of its own way and is just snake-bit when it comes to players and coaches
