The excitement of the season is gone for me

#1

Maybe it's all the years of bad Jaguar football but it is a struggle lately to give a damn about this team. With Khan's history he probalby will not clean sweep the front office so the vicious cycle seems to keep repeating.  It's like the Jaguars average 1 good season every 5-6 years. The Jaguars to be blunt are Hope Killers.  They get to a point that gives one hope they are on pace to become consistent winners and then just stomps on your hope.  That trickles down to the players.  This Sunday coming up I will watch but have little hope of being entertained. I guess I am a masochist because I have been a fan since day 1 and can't stop watching but know deep down going to wind up disappointed in most cases. I haven't checked lately but I remember reading a few years back that the Jaguars were the most losing Franchise in NFL history under Shad Khan.

I have taken steps to kinda step back from the product.  Last week I turned it off in the third quarter because it was more frustrating than entertaining to watch. The rest of the season is a no win situation:

A. If we win most of the games against inferior team:  There is little doubt in my mind that Khan would run it back with the same personal. If we squeak out 3-4 wins, I can see Khan with that Typical Speech: "The Jaguars are on the right track, yada, yada, yada."

B. If the Jaguars continue the same level of pathetic play:  It's flat out boring to watch. The defense gets slowly driven down the field while the offense has 3 plays and out.

C. If Lawrence Comes back:  I think it would be stupid to risk him in this lost season but Doug is trying to save his job.  Lawrence is clearly better than Mac but Lawrence isn't a world beater either. The team was 2-7 before Lawrence got hurt and Lawrence himself has missed many open throws this year.

Just looking at were we were 3 years ago and where we are now:  Lawrence was suppose to be this unbelievable talent to save the franchise or at the very least be a Great QB (hasnt happen), The team has had many high round draft picks since then and most just aren't good players.  Clearly Baalke has failed to secure the talent but he seems to have the back pocket of the owner.  Maybe things will change after the season but right now It's hard getting excited for Jaguar football.  It's kinda depressing when you look at the Detroit Lions and they were in our same spot just a few years ago.

If Lawrence plays there is a reason to watch. Lawrence and BTJ and that’s pretty much it.

Also, the writing is on the wall. Pederson and Baalke are dead men walking. They are gone regardless of what happens. Don’t waste time stressing yourself out by trying to talk yourself into believing they are gonna be here next year.

Lawrence is a good QB. Give him the O-line of the Bills or the skill players of the Bucs and he's in contention for MVP. But look at the Jags O-line. Weak, old, can't create holes in the run game and for most of his career Lawrence has been running for life. Jags WR's lead the league in dropped passes. 2 of the top 3 WR's out for the season. Egram hurt his hammy early on.

No one is going to excel given the [BLEEP] show that the Jags are. Lawrence hasn't let the Jags down, the Jags have let Lawrence down.

I'm trying to take a step back, but it's difficult when I've watched almost every single game start to finish since 1995.  At 12:45 on game day the adrenalin kicks in, and it doesn't matter what our record is, or how much I am determined to take a step back, I am back to watching that day's game.  Lately when we're getting crushed, I have turned it off at halftime, but by the 4th quarter I am back to watching.

Yeah. I get so tired of fans undervaluing 16. All you have to do is watch the last two games and you’ll know that Trevor’s a top ten qb. Give the man a real NFL O line and watch him flourish.

All I can say about it is I'm so glad I didn't buy Sunday Ticket. I could've had it for $200 via an offer for veterans but I would have been very disappointed pretty pissed off to spend even that on what we've seen this season. The ROI most definitely not worth it.

I gave myself a talking to a few years ago.. It's just a game..

I don't like the outcomes, but I can't do anything about it..

This game doesn't effect my daily life like it used to. I'll be a fan of this team until it either moves or I die, but it will not get the best of me anymore.. Jags can win every game of the season, doesn't put food on the table or keep us safe.

The only way I can protest my dislike is by to stop purchasing the gear and tickets. I'll take that same money that I would spend on a game or new jersey of my favorite player that will not be on the team in 4 years, and take the wife out for dinner or buy her a gift or two..

That's my key to happiness.. May not work for everyone, but works for me.

I’m not renewing my season tickets. I can deal with the perennial losing, but I’ll be damned if I continue to lay out thousands to watch it.

Meh, I have been watching NFL football since the early 1970's.  I just enjoy the game.  Never really was a fan of any certain team until we got the franchise.

I took the step a few years back to not renew my season tickets mainly because I was out of town for work for a lot of home games and was unable to give my tickets/parking pass away because the team was playing so poorly.  Now that I have moved out of Jacksonville I really have no desire to go to another game.  The time, expense and the product on the field has me sitting at home paying far less for my beverages/food during the games.  I still watch every game on TV and like this past weekend when they were on their bye I still watched the other games.

It was def gone at 2-7. Pretty much nothing to be excited about this year literally after the 0-3 start. Pathetic season. Time to FULLY clean house. Total reset is needed. Pre day 1 fan. This is one of the toughest seasons since 2008 because there were expectations this year.
