The draft is only 8 months away so we have to start preparing. Post any mock drafts you come across or post your own in this thread.

Here is one from Fansided http://nflmocks.com/2016/08/21/2017-nfl-...-big-2/21/

They have us selecting Pat Elflein with the 20th pick. Here is what they commented:

"Not every year is going to start with the sexy picks. The Jacksonville Jaguars have made enough of those. Their core of skill position talent should be in place with their latest influx including Jalen Ramsey, Tashaun Gipson and Myles Jack. What they need to focus on moving forward is making sure all of that excels to the highest degree. That means beefing up the trenches from front to back. Nowhere more so than the offensive line.

<p style="margin-left:0px;">

<p style="margin-left:0px;">Blake Bortles was sacked way too much in 2015 and there aren’t many indication it will get much better this year. Time will tell where the biggest holes are but they can’t go wrong with somebody like Pat Elflein. His blocking power, nastiness and agility make him a quality option for both guard and center. So he will be able to plug in at any of the three interior spots where the Jaguars need the most help. Not only will Bortles benefit, but the running game as well."

<p style="margin-left:0px;">

<p style="margin-left:0px;">Obviously the year has to play out but he seems to be the consensus top interior offensive lineman. Pick 20 seems about right for him and he would feel our biggest (perceived) need as of now.

Here's a 2 rounder from Walter Football http://walterfootball.com/draft2017.php

He has taking Jabrill Peppers in the first at pick 14 and Dan Voltz (C, Wisconsin) in the 2nd. His comments regarding our center situation is quite uninformed:

"Jaguars have some shaky options at center right now, so this is one area they may focus on improving next offseason. "

He must not have gotten the memo about Linder. I do like the thought process of strong safety in the first and oline in the 2nd.

Obviously a lot can change between now and next year's draft. But (barring free agent additions), I would say the most likely first round positions would be offensive line, SAM linebacker and strong safety. Peppers is a great player but I tend to think he will go higher than 14. Jamal Adams from LSU is another one to keep an eye on.

I hope we draft low enough to justify actually taking a non-LT O-line position without it being a reach. Kind of like the clots did with Ryan Kelly.

No way the Patriots don't draft this guy lol
Charlie Campbell's 2 Round Mock Draft

http://walterfootball.com/draft2017charlie.php

Round 1 (14)- Cordea Tankersley CB Clemson

Round 2- Quinn Blanding S Virginia

I can't see us going CB in the first with House and Ramsey solidified on the outside with Colvin in the slot. Prince is on a 1 year contract but there would be other needs to fulfill at better value.

I like the idea of Blanding in the 2nd.

Draft Site's 2 round mock draft

http://www.draftsite.com/nfl/mock-draft/2017/

Has us picking 10th.

Round 1- Cam Robinson LT Bama

Round 2- Eddie Vorhees DT UCLA

Robinson is an elite talent and the top LT at this point. If Beachum doesn't recover as well as hoped and Joeckel stays at guard/walks in FA, this would be a fantastic pick.

The DT pick in round 2 is a bit confusing as it's the deepest position on the roster, not that I would expect anyone outside of Jax to know that. I think I would lean towards Tim Williams OLB/LEO/Pass Rush Specialist in the 2nd. His all around game needs work but he can get after the QB and would add another wave with Ngakoue and Fowler.

Draft Utopia's 3 round mock draft

http://www.draftutopia.com/2017nflmockdraftround1.html

Has us picking 25th.

Another uniformed mock. Linder is our center (not that Pocic cant play guard but it should be stated we do not need a center). We do need depth at tackle so the pick in round 2 I like. The comments about releasing House as a reason for drafting a CB in the third is ludicrous.

25.  <b>Jacksonville JaguarsEthan Pocic, C, LSU</b>

Jacksonville goes with a center here. The 6-7 309 lb Ethan Pocic has the same versatility to play anywhere on the interior offensive line that Pat Elflein out of Ohio State displays. The 2017 NFL Draft is pretty thin at center outside of Pat Elflein. That's why the Jaguars take Pocic here.

58.  <b>Jacksonville JaguarsDan Skipper, RT, Arkansas</b>     The Jacksonville Jaguars get a starting right tackle here to possibly replace Jeremy Parnell at some point. The 6-9 331 lb right tackle Dan Skipper from Arkansas is a terrific run blocker. Skipper still needs to become more consistent in pass protection. Skipper is a great value pick for Jacksonville though in the late second round.

<b>89. Jacksonville JaguarsChidobe Awuzie, CB, Colorado</b>  Jacksonville drafts a player on the secondary here. Strong safety Jonathan Cyprien and cornerback Prince Amukamara will both be Free Agents in 2017 plus you cannot rule out the possibility of the team releasing Davon House.

Using the above mock's board, I would do:

Round 1- Tim Williams OLB/LEO Bama- It would be rare to get such a good pass rusher at pick 25. You can never have too many pass rushers.

Round 2- Reuben Foster MLB Bama- Completes our young trio of LBs with Jack and Smith. That's a scary good group that can run and hit.

Round 3- Caleb Patterson OG UNC- We do pretty well with 3rd round interior olinemen. Patterson should come in and start but would have to hold off a developing Chris Reed.

The DT pick in round 2 is a bit confusing as it's the deepest position on the roster, not that I would expect anyone outside of Jax to know that. I could see a DT early if it is more of a NT. Roy is getting older and they may not feel comfortable with Jones as the full time starter.

I agree. But Vanderdoes (name was spelled wrong in the mock draft) appears to be more of a 3 tech.
Mock Draft from Draftwire has us picking at 14

http://draftwire.usatoday.com/2016/08/23...n-edition/

Round 1- Roderick Johnson OT Florida State

Round 2- Johnathan Ford S Auburn

I understand the tackle in the first but if you look closer at who he was picked over, I'd be questioning this selection. Players taken after:

Jamal Adams S LSU

Derrick Barnett LEO Tennessee

Jarrad Davis LB Florida

It would be hard to pass up on elite defensive players like that for a very raw tackle.

Quote:"With the 32nd pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select, Christian McCaffery, rb Stanford."

I'm ok with trading out of the #1 slot since we don't need a QB but I'm not willing to trade the entire way down the draft board unless we get huge compensation from the SB winner.

lol, that draft spot was based on us shocking the world and winning the Super Bowl, before the Bengals game.
Here is my own pre-regular season mock draft. Obviously the players are going to change throughout the year but it is more of a needs based draft. I consider our biggest needs going into the season as:

1. Starting LG

2. Starting SS

3. Oline depth

4. 3rd LB (as Poz is nearing the end)

Round 1. Jamal Adams SS LSU- Cyp isn't the answer at SS for us. Adams adds a playmaker to the secondary and will pair nicely with Gipson.

Round 2. Dan Feeney G Indiana- We absolutely (at this point) have to come away with one of the top 2-3 guards in the draft. Joeckel will be gone at the end of this year and no one on the roster is starting level. Feeney, Linder, and Cann will start for the next decade.

Round 3. Josh Carraway LB TCU- Add another athletic LB to the corps along with Jack and Smith. Carraway along with Adams in round 1 puts the finish touches on a rebuilt defense.

Round 4. Adam Bisnowaty OT Pitt- Backup LT for Beachum and will provide quality depth.

Round 5. Tyrique Jarrett DT Pitt- Big DT to start grooming behind Miller.

Round 6. Brian Allen OC/OG Mich State- Can play both center and guard and should grow into a primary back up.

Round 7. Brandon Facyson CB VT- I don't see Prince staying around to be the dime CB. Facyson was a really good player as a freshman but injuries have slowed down his development. Potential sleeper here.

We better never take an OL in the first 2 rounds again.

Quote:We better never take an OL in the first 2 rounds again.

While we all are frustrated with the wasted pick on the Joke, this makes 0 sense.

While you can typically find eventual starters for offensive line throughout the draft, we are going to be in the market for a day 1 starter. That requires a high draft pick (top 3 rounds). Even at that, waiting till the 3rd round is risky since that player may not be available.

As the season goes on, we'll get a better idea of how many starting level guards will be entering the draft. Hopefully its a deep draft for guard.
If he is available and we are picking in the low teens I think we have to get Jabrill Peppers. Guy is a hoss. If not then Tony Conner early or late in the second. We need our enforcer SS to complete our defense
Here is my overreaction mock draft to week 1.

Round 1. Charles Harris, LEO, Missouri- Pass rush seems like it's going to be an issue this season. Enter Harris, who can come off the edge and gives another pass rusher to add to Fowler and Ngakoue. Keep drafting them until you hit on them.

Round 2. Eddie Jackson SS, Alabama- Cyp is inconsistent and I dont see him being re-signed unless it is for cheap. While Jackson isn't the prototypical SS for the scheme, he is physical and can cover way better than Cyp could dream of.

Round 3. Nico Siragusa OG, SDSU- While Joeckel played better than expected Sunday, guard still needs to be addressed. I dont know if Joeckel will re-sign as a guard when some team will give him another shot at tackle. Plug and play at LG.

Round 4. Sony Michel RB, UGA- Overshadowed by Chubb at Georgia, but is a fantastic player in his own right. Is versatile and will be the #3 back until Ivory's age gets the best of him. The Denard experiment at rb is over.

Round 5. Mason Cole OT, Michigan- Need to improve the depth behind Parnell and Beachum.

Round 6. Calvin Munson LB, SDSU- Putting quality bodies behind Poz and Skuta. I expect the nickel LBs to eventually be Smith and Jack this season. We have other needs to fill early in the draft.

Round 7. Elijah Qualls NT, Washington- Big body to develop behind Miller for a year or 2.
