Since the election, Trump has expressed a desire to take over the Panama Canal, annex Canada, and buy Greenland from Denmark.
My question for you is, has Trump lost his mind?
God I really do hope you think Trump lost his mind.. You've been wrong so many times the last 4 years that you're starting to turn into the Jim Cramer of the board..
I think we all know and understand that Trump was trolling Trudeau..
If Denmark wants to sell Greenland, why not? Make it a US territory. If it happens, wouldn't be the first time a land purchased happen and not going to be the last..
And as far as the Panama Canal is considered, our country paid for it and built it. It rightfully belongs to The US..
My 2 cents..

He's also threatening to take over Greenland and make Canada the "51st state"...which rather proves he's an idiot.
Canada isn't even a nation. It is five regions with two official languages and four unofficial with 127 indigenous languages that have to be "reclaimed". (Nnewfoundlandic is a recognized language in its own right). Indigenous land claims are pending on 64% of the land, including parts of Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and all of Vancouver.
This is what happens when you take your average idiot you talk with on Facebook who is MAGA and make them president.
Its just more cheap talk by Trump. He’ll make some noise, yapping like a loud diminutive dog, but China will step in and make it clear to Elon and Donald who’s the boss, and Donald will back down.
We have once again entered the white trash era.
Enjoy these glorious four years.

This isn't the 1800s anymore. We don't buy and sell territory without at least asking the people who live there.
The US built the Panama canal over 100 years ago. For about 50 years, Panama has owned it and they've maintained it, and made it wider and deeper during that time.

I don't think he's lost his mind. I just think he's overly ambitious and roughly half of what he says or wants to achieve will come to fruition.
Taking over the Panama Canal? I don't see anything crazy about that in particular that would make you think he's lost his mind. We used to have a period of joint control over it with the Panamanian government up until 1999. My biggest guess as to why he would target that area though is to directly avoid China backdooring it's way into that territory potentially. There was an article or two in 2022 talking about this very relationship. China has a lot of control there.
Does China Own the Panama Canal? No, but Still Concerning
Annex Canada? Farfetched for sure. Doubt that happens. Not a fan of some of their beliefs and policies up there though. Don't they condone or have passed into law for people to willfully off themselves with assisted suicide? Just seems like a really sick thing to advocate and stand behind in my opinion.
Buying Greenland from Denmark? Not a bad idea if they want to sell it. Wouldn't hurt to ask. They have one of the highest shares of renewable energy in the world at 70%, mostly coming from hydropower. It's believed it also has one of the world's largest remaining oil resources. Wouldn't be a bad land grab. Also, the idea of Manifest Destiny is refreshing.
While we have been expanding via proxy wars and US tax dollars to fund conflicts? China has invested in South America and Russia has invested in Africa. We're barely hanging on by a thread as it stands now as the world's global superpower (we're probably already lost at this point to be fair). Getting into this footrace now while we still can within this decade is not a bad idea overall.

If you think that's bad, thank your pedo stars that I'm not President.
My guess is the Panama Canal posturing is push back on China's encroachment in the region.
Greenland is full of rare earth minerals and also presents a strategic location in the arctic region.
The Canada statement was an obvious slap at Justin Trudeau.

Exactly. It's overly ambitious but ambitious nonetheless. Nothing wild about it at all really. It's not just China in South America trying to expand it's power. You also have Russia working closely in expanding it's power in Africa.

You're debating global strategy with people who actively want the USA to lose it's solo superpower status or naive enough to believe that other countries just want to be our equals and bear us no ill will in becoming so. I think the Chinese threat in the Western Hemisphere from Mexico south is substantial and I have no issues with the US exerting some pressure that direction. I, you, and most non-TDS sufferers know that the Canada thing was a joke. The Greenland thing is out of left field but I'm always in favor of the USA absorbing more territory because I'm an actual patriot and want to see our country continue to lead the world.
My guess is the bluster about Panama comes from an ongoing tax evasion case he has there.

I'm a patriot too, but I think soft power should be enough for us to prevent Chinese influence from dominating in this area. Force should not be required. The treaty already says that the US military may come assist if any other military threatens the canal.
