He was born and raised in Texas and is a veteran of the United States Army. Dude had issues. This is why I never call veterans 'heroes' in a blanket statement because it's simply not true.

In a series of videos, the suspect in the deadly New Year’s attack in New Orleans discussed planning to kill his family and having dreams that helped inspire him to join ISIS, according to multiple officials briefed on the investigation.
Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the 42-year-old man who police suspect drove a pickup truck into a crowd of revelers on Bourbon Street, killing at least 15 people and injuring dozens more, made the chilling recordings while driving from his home in Texas to Louisiana, authorities believe.
Jabbar, a US citizen and Army veteran who served in Afghanistan, made reference in the videos to his divorce and how he had at first planned to gather his family for a "celebration" with the intention of killing them, two officials who had been briefed on the recordings said. But Jabbar said in the videos that he changed his plans and joined ISIS, and referenced several dreams that he had about why he should be joining the terrorist group, according to the officials.
If you read, the entire article..... this man was a nutcase.

Interesting analysis of terror attacks. Note, this is a liberal think tank heavily funded by the Melinda Gates' Pivotal Ventures LLC but the numbers are what I'm looking at.
The TL/DR version : Terror attacks are mostly done by citizens and permanent residents (80%) BUT always always (89%) done by Muslim (62%) or Muslim converts (27%).
So while it might be considered a border control / immigration issue, it's really one of allowing people in with ideals that don't align with strong traditional Christian values or who won't adopt these. Is it time that the West stops trying to be tolerant and all things to all people?

Same with the Vegas car bombing too.
Also, how was someone being treated for depression allowed to purchase firearms?

Most Muslims don't dabble in that stuff and are as offended by it as you and I, if not more so.
That's not an excuse, it actually points to the right strategy.
The right strategy is to invite, include, and promote the very many good ones in various ways. Just like with Christians, Jews, and any other religious tradition. Let them speak about the changes they'd like to see in society, as long as they reject violence and calls to violence.

I disagree. The right strategy is to be better at violence than they are.

We've been fighting this culture war since the 7th century. Until that death cult is neutralized there will be no peace.

Humanity will just find something else to argue about.
Sustained peace is impossible.

My strategy does not exclude being prepared for war when necessary. I agree with you, we should never stop being prepared to win any war.

It was a rental car, it very well could have traveled into Mexico. Doesn’t mean he was the driver at the time.

You are correct. Here's the retraction. Or adjustment, if you want to call it that. Apparently, the rental truck crossed the border but it was back in November and the New Orleans terrorist was not the driver at the time.
Truck crossed border Nov. 16, ID of driver doesn't appear to be suspect, sources say | Fox News Video
Next question- did Trump ever retract his allegation that this terror attack had something to do with the laxity at the border? I can answer that. Of course not.

No, actually, Trump started it with his allegation that the New Orleans terrorist attack was Biden's fault because of his failure to secure the border, an allegation that he has not retracted in spite of the truth coming out that the terrorist was a US citizen.

Not true Marty. You started it at post #34, the first and only mention of Trump in the thread. You've provided no evidence of Trump's "allegation", nor would it even be relevant.
Forget Trump (and Biden), let go of your TDS, and look at the FACTS of the case, then move on to conclusions.
The tread is about the attack, NOT about Trump's reaction to the attack.

Feds reveal chilling new timeline of how maniac terrorist scoped out New Orleans kill zone
FBI details terrorist’s movement overseas, in US prior to attack
The FBI on Sunday released new details about 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the man authorities say carried out the deadly New Years Day terrorist attack in New Orleans, including his movements in and out of the country and the preparations he took immediately prior to the attack.
Jabbar, who authorities said acted alone in the attack on Bourbon Street that killed 14 people, had traveled to Cairo, Egypt, from June 22 to July 3, 2023, then returned to the U.S. In a separate trip on July 10, 2023, he traveled to Ontario, Canada, and returned to the U.S. a few days later, the FBI said during a press conference. The FBI also said Jabbar visited Tampa, Florida recently.
Jabbar also made at least two trips to New Orleans in October and November prior to the deadly attack and recorded video of Bourbon Street with Meta smart glasses.
