Quote:I'm teaching my grandson how to use these firearms in a responsible way.  Government has no legitimate reason to try and take my "toys" away.

If they (government) try to legislate and/or take away my firearms, they'll have to do so over my dead body.

JIB, if it ever comes to that, my grandson and I will stand right beside you.  The tree of Liberty is getting thirsty.

Quote:Auto death penalty for crimes committed with a firearm. Banishment to Australia for all other violent crimes.

Well Australia's history is built on convicts so I guess it makes sense

Death Penalty? Us civilized nations haven't done that for a while.
Quote:What are you kidding me? Obama has been taking our guns for the last 7 years. There are no guns left because Barry has taken them all.

Not for lack of effort

Even for hunting without a license?
Quote:Not for lack of effort

There's been an effort towards seizing legally obtained firearms from law abiding citizens?

Nightmares don't count.

Nightmares don't count.

Sure what to you think the mental disorder is about? Have PTSD that's a disorder turn in your gun Mr or Mrs veteran its happening in California.

He's also advocated massive restrictions which would make many what are legally owned firearms illegal, magazine capacity for example. Obama has advocated a 5 round magazine limit on firearms, that would mean my legally owned ar15 and ak47 would then be illegal.

I can go on but there has been many instances when Obamas afministration has attempted to make what are today legal firearms illegal and under the risk of confiscation.

We shouldn't have such things, so, no.

You'll bring it back once our relocation program starts.

If you had your way we would probably work 7 days a week anyway.
Quote:The point is less gun owners will equal less gun violence. What exactly are you scared of? Or do you just like playing with your toys?

Less of anything will equal less abuse thereof.  The math is fairly simple; don't bother patting yourself on the back.

I like playing with my toys.  Clay birds, paper targets, even an old tin can is fun.  Pity you don't have that right (This isn't a jealousy thing for you, is it?)  The great thing about my "toys", is they're also tools.  If some crazed druggie tries to break into my house I can use one of my tools to give him lead poisoning.

Not really.

1. I can get a license for a gun if I wanted to or go to a gun range?

2. Do you leave your guns lying around? If not number 2 isn't happening anyway.
1. A license for a gun?  I think a few Communist states like New Jersey require them.  Other than that, no.  Outside of cities you can pretty much shoot anywhere you have permission from the land owner.  No range required.

2.  Yes, we have loaded guns in multiple locations or on our person.  My kids and grandkids know where they are and how to use them.  It's called America.

America where in 2015 you were more likely to be killed by a toddler than a terrorist...

Well, how nice of them to let you.

Quote:That all depends.  Burglary comes to mind as to how a gun could fall into an irresponsible gun owner's hands.  What exactly are you getting at?

What I'm getting at is something mentioned in the article.

All new firearms start out as legally purchased, and then they are acquired by people who would not normally be allowed to purchase firearms.

You say burglary is one method for bad people to get guns, but so is craigslist.  So is inheritance.  So are gun shows.  There are all sorts of legal means for guns to wind up in the hands of felons, and most of the NRA crowd want no restrictions on the ability to trade guns.  In fact, many of them want the law to make it EASIER to buy them and sell them.

There are responsible gun owners, and there are irresponsible gun owners, and the law cannot discriminate between the two.
Quote:So in order to decrease gun violence, let's make it harder for lawful abiding gun owners!

Nope not the point at all.

Guns dont kill people. its bad people who are not supposed to have guns, or people who have guns illegally that kill people.

Noone is trying to take your guns away, its more about trying to reduce he amount of illegal guns on the street.

People keep repeating this but it's simply not true. There are many very powerful people in Washington who desperately want to take our guns away. So far they've not succeeded but they are continually nibbling away at the protections afforded to our citizens, and one bite at a time they will eventually eat the whole elephant.

We can go on forever about this. Ill just say we agree to disagree,

When your whole premise starts from an untruth then your conclusion can never be correct.
