Best WR in franchise history not even close. Borderline Hall of Fame worthy.

Addiction is a hard thing for some to understand. I'm proud to be a fan of Jimmy Smith, and proud of him, for how he's pulled his life together.

Jimmy most defiantly deserved to be in the Pride.  On the field he was the best receiver In my eyes.  He never used glue like rice or a diva like owens or moss.  And very true Kennan didnt play as long.  And was able to be a play maker due to Jimmy being game planned for all the time.

Quote:Brunell blew his money on bad investments. He didn't hold the team hostage by holding out to only get dinged over and over for failed drug tests and subsequently retiring because of said drug addiction. Jimmy flat out lied then had the Jaguars org put on a dog and pony show for his surprise retirement. The truth is I like jimmy smith as a player. But he doesn't belong in a group called the pride. In my opinion when you think of a player in the pride you should feel proud. When I think of jimmy in the pride I think oxymoron.
I will take Jimmy and his drug issues over Brunell any day of the week.  I loved Brunell until his comment about the Jags moving to London.  So no I personally love Jimmy cause he never sold out like brunell did.

Jimmy wasn't an analyst so of course he didn't.

Brunell was being honest. It's not his job to root for us. He was a Redskin and Saint before retiring, so he understands the NFL is a business.
uh, no... taking drugs is not associated with the activity of a 'good person'. Nevertheless, I'm glad that Jimmy seems to have turned that corner. He has been the greatest Jaguar player to date, in my opinion. Next to him, I'd put in Keenan.

Quote:I don't care how many narcotics Gimme Sniff took, he was a dang good WR and an absolute class act off the field despite his troubles. Believe it or not, good people get addicted to drugs. He didn't screw Wayne Weaver over, he gave him a decade of elite WR play and tons of jersey sales.

If you are mad at Jimmy for doing drugs, that's your choice, but the man didn't let his issues turn him into a real degenerate like Blackmon.

No... good people do not get addicted to drugs. Taking drugs (whether addicted or not) is not the conduct of a 'good person'.... dingus.
Jimmy Smith is the greatest number 82 to play in the NFL:

Does drinking beer or smoking make you a bad person?
Welcome back J-Smooth...

NH3...
Just needed a cooling off period after his rocky retirement.  Hope he can stay on the right path.

Really man? Just how sheltered are you? Caffeine is a drug, it alters your mental and physical state. Does drinking coffee make you a "bad" person? Does taking pills for illness or injury make you a "bad" person? Loads of people get addicted through a med they previously were prescribed. If the legality of a substance is your issue with drugs, then does speeding make you a "bad" person since it's a violation of the law? I've known generous, honest, gentle, kind-hearted, compassionate, responsible people who "do drugs" and total scum who don't. I don't think its as black and white as drugs=bad, no drugs=good. A persons character is defined by far more than whether or not they choose to enter a certain substance into their own body.

Anyway, congrats to Jimmy, well earned.
Congrats to Smooth, who I bumped into around Jville more than any other player. Signed my hat in line outside Regency movie theater, saw him again at the Avenues, and at Jim's place.

I'll leave the moral police and DEA officials to do the judging. The idea of these bred footballers to terrorize in field and choirboy in life in spite of unfathomable exposures is a fantastic tale in Narnia.
I think I should say, Congrats to Smooth, whom* Wink. But we don't critique tangibles like grammar here. Back to determining subjectives; good and bad people based on drugs/addiction...
This made me very happy to hear that Jimmy's name will be in its rightful place inside of the stadium. It has been a long time coming. Thank you Mr. Kahn for recognizing true greatness!

Wow. You are so uninformed. Woefully so.
Why do people (good or bad?) become addicted to any substance or behavior?

The [BLEEP] works.  They enjoy it.  It makes them happy when they are doing it.  Plain and simple.

Both good and bad people can struggle with self control and addiction (which is a form of self control, compounded by the mental and physical effects.)

It has nothing to do with being a good or bad person, just the pursuit of happiness.

Which is the dark irony of any addiction...
