Here is a 7 Rd Mock Draft on Football's Future

http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/vi...p?t=587230

Here are my selections from this draft:

Rd 1 - Leonard Fournette - RB - LSU

I still believe that he can have as big effect on turning around the Jags offense as any player in this draft.

Rd 2 - Cam Robinson - OG/OT - Alabama

Perfect scenario for the Jags getting their starting OLG who could ultimately kick out to be out future OLT.

Rd 3 - Bucky Hodges - TE - Va. Tech

Here I went with  Hodges over Everett because Hodges has bigger hands and a little bigger body. Both are move TE but I feel that Hodges can grow into more of an effective target in the middle of the field.

Rd 4 - Tanoh Kpassagnon - DE  - Villanova

Backup Strongside DE who I think will be taken in Rd 2, but was available in Rd 4.

Rd 5 - Teez Tabor - CB - Florida

Yes he runs a slow 40, but to me he is the perfect nickle CB who can play close to the LOS and maybe create some turnovers.

Rd 6 - Delano Hill - SS - Michigan

Hill could play FS, but I like his size for play against the TE.

Rd 7 - Tedric Thompson - FS - Colorado

Could play either Safety, but I think his knack for the INT lends itself more to the FS spot as a backup.

Rd 7 - Avery Moss - DE - Youngstown State

The other DE from Youngstown State is pretty good too, but was not included in this draft class. I think he is a Rd 5 selection.

Who are your selections from this mock?

I don't have the time to look at the mock, but those are some nice selections.

BAK in every round. Special teams is the most important phase of the game.

Who are your selections from this mock?
My picks are very similiar.

Rd. 1 . Fournette- I would have gone with Allen or Thomas, but unfortunately they were gone. Offense does need more help and his upside is undeniable.

Rd. 2. Cam Robinson- Slight edge over Feeney. May take him a little longer to adjust to NFL due to position change. Position versatility is big advantage, especially if Parnell

                                     does not improve.

Rd. 3. Bucky Hodges- Can't argue with your logic on this one.

Rd. 4  Nathan Peterman- At the least, he can be a reliable long-term backup.

Rd. 5 .Teez Tabor- How could anyone pass up value like this? Despite poor performance at combine and pro-day, no way he makes it to the 5th round.

Rd. 6. Chris Godwin- Should beat out Rashad Greene for 4th receiver spot.

Rd. 7. Hardy Nickerson Jr.- Special teams and backup linebacker.

Rd. 7. Fish Smithson- Another special teams guy who can also fill in at safety.
1. OJ Howard - NFL craves versatility more and more. Howard is as versatile as it gets, Fournette the opposite.

2. Gareon Conley - Top 10 player to me. As much as I love Feeney you can't pass on Conley.

3. Pat Elflein - Maybe the best pure center in this draft. If he can't make the switch to guard seamlessly we know Linder can.

4. D'onta Foreman - Not crazy envisioning Foreman being the best RB in this class with his size and great athleticism and college production.

5. Chris Godwin - Plus size, excellent athleticism, and good production. Could become WR2 for us in time.

6. Lorenzo Jerome - My favorite of the bargain safeties.

7. don't care

Where did you come up with "the NFL craves"?
Quote:Where did you come up with "the NFL craves"?
For a long time now teams have been moving away from the bellcow 300 carry RB in favor of committee backfields with specializations. Fullbacks are going away and the only ones that are staying are the Jusczcyk, DiMarco, Reece types that are also very versatile with hback skills. You saw the dislike the team had for Julius and how they said they hated that it gave the play away when he was in the game. If you can't at least feign blocking it's a problem.

On defense the joker SS/LB/nickel corner types of players are in big demand and the smaller, lighter, and more versatile MLB is all the rage so teams can run these hybrid and base nickel defenses.

I just don't think the modern NFL is going to treat a player who has to be stuck in a predictable under center 21 personnel type offense with raw blocking and passing skills very well.
RD1: Derek Barnett - DE - Tennessee

RD2: Dan Feeney - G - Indiana

RD3: Raekwon McMillan - ILB - Ohio State

RD4: Bucky Hodges - TE - Virginia Tech

RD5: Jerod Evans - QB - Virginia Tech

RD6: Corn Elder - CB - Miami

RD7: Billy Brown - WR - Shepherd

Round 1)- Malik McDowell.

Controversial pick here for a few reasons. He's a top 10 talent but has obvious attitude issues. I'm banking on a Dline room with Calais and Malik to be able to help settle him down

Round 2) Taylor Moton

Easy pick. Day 1 starter at right tackle or guard.

Round 3) Corn Elder

Elite slot player, can battle for Colvin for that job as the #3 CB. Wouldn't be surprised if Elder started in the slot day 1 with Colvin being the backup outside guy.

Round 4) Samaje Perine

Needs to lose 10lbs or so but otherwise is a great prospect. Very good in the red zone, good blocker and ball security. Kind of like Yeldon in a way but much better.

Round 5) Xavier Woods S

Most underrated player in the whole draft. 5'11 200, had crazy production in college with 14 interceptions in total. Hits like a freight train, 6.72 3 cone , can play nickel, strong safety or free.

Round 6) Michael Roberts

Some of the best hands out of the tight ends, good blocker and red zone target.

Round 7) Tedric Thompson

Too good to pass up
1.) OJ Howard - TE - Alabama

2.) Cam Robinson - OG - Alabama

3.) Joe Mixon - RB - Oklahoma

4.) Carlos Henderson - WR/KR - LA Tech

5.) Teez Tabor - CB - Florida

6.) Chad Kelly - QB - Ole Miss

7.) Ashton Lumpkin- CB - OK State

7.) Development OL
1. Jon Allen      (Solomon Thomas if available)

2. Best Guard Available   (Feeney/Dawkins)

3. Davis Webb

4. Wayne Gallman

5. Best TE Available  (Kittle/Sprinkle/Jonnu Smith)

6. Delano Hill   - SS/FS to develop and play on ST

7.Levon Myers  (RT developmental prospect)

I'd be very happy with Perine and Gallman in the 4th as has been suggested in this thread, but in this particular case Foreman was available in the 4th too. Y'all don't really have those two over Foreman right?

Yeah I'd rather Perine than Foreman
1. Leonard Fournette RB LSU- Best RB in the draft. Gives us someone the defense has to scheme for and will help whatever QB we end up with long term.

2. Dion Dawkins G Temple- Powerful run blocker who can open up holes for our new RB.

3. Dalvin Tomlinson DT Bama- We have plenty of penetrating 3T so it would be wise to add a run stuffer.

4. Julie'n Davenport OT Bucknell- Basically needs a redshirt year to refine technique but has the potential to start at either tackle

position.

5. Brad Kaaya QB Miami- Keep drafting QBs until you find one. Arm talent is there, not very mobile, can be inconsistent. Maybe he turns out to be something, maybe not.

6. Lorenzo Jerome S St. Francis- Small school guy who got rave reviews from the senior bowl.

7. Hardy Nickerson LB Ill- ST/Depth selection

7. Derrick Griffin TE Texas Southern- Physical freak who will need a year on the PS. Basketball background, can run and jump.

I'm actually on the fence about that.

I think Gallman has some tendencies in his style of play that may actually translate to the NFL better than Foreman.

I think he makes a stronger downhill finish to his runs than any of the three mentioned. He seems to show less hesitancy when there's no obvious running lane also. He'll just get behind a big guy, or stick his nose in a crease and try to squeeze through with a nice low pad level and get a few yards where there were none.

Regardless - those are the most likely three good value  RBs to be there in the fourth  - and I think this F.O. can capably choose one if they go that direction in that round.  I haven't done any exhaustive research on the matter. Just a two or three cut-ups of each guy.  So I don't have a really strong opinion on it.  Just a hunch that Gallman's toughness and good balance will benefit him at the next level.

That's fair, and I'm not hitching my wagon to Foreman or anything cause he does dance too much and doesn't finish with the power you would expect for his size. That said if he does figure out how to finish runs better his absurd athleticism could propel him to tops in the class without too much trouble IMO. That's the type I like to gamble on.

I say we do the unconventional and trade back as many rounds as we can.  The pats do it.

Quote:I say we do the unconventional and trade back as many rounds as we can. The pats do it.

I agree a trade back is best case scenario but we can't continue trading back and miss out on frontline players.
1. RB Leonard Fournette - I'm still tempted to say McCaffery instead, but seeing how he wasn't even brought in for a visit, and seeing how Jonathan Allen is gone, Fournette is the pick.

2. CB Gareon Conley - Are you kidding me?

3. C/G Pat Elflein - It's actually thought he'd do best kicking out to G, and he's one heck of a run blocker. I love Bucky Hodges, but the LG positoin has become a priority, and Elflein is the last day one starter left.

4. TE Jordan Leggett - The guy is even better than Hodges, and he's the complete package. It's sick that he's still here in round four. as I'm convinced there's no chance he escapes round two.

5. NT Stevie Tu'ikolovatu - He'd instantly move into the rotation with Abry Jones, and we have to get some more rotational guys up front. As I see it, the only rotation we have set is our RDE spot with Yannick and Dante, but we still need guys behind Calais, Malik and Abry.

6. QB Jerod Evans - bye, bye Henne

7a. FB Freddy Stevenson - interesting that he goes undrafted in this mock, but I'm not waiting any longer.

7b. FS Tedric Thompson - no idea who is is, but JackCity says he's too good to pass up.

If the draft falls like this we should try to pull off two trades as below ;

1) with Cleveland 4 & 68 for 12, 33, 65 & 108.

2) with San Francisco 12 for 34, 66 and their second pick in 2018.

We end up with this ,

33- Evan Engram

34 Christian McCaffrey

35 Dan Feeney or Cam Robinson

42 Carl Lawson

65 Larry Ogunojobi

66 Sidney Jones

108 Donte Freeman

110 Nathan Peterman

148 Teez Tabor

187 Michael Roberts

7th best FB and FS prospect available

We end up with a #2 in 2018 draft plus addressing every major area of need in decent fashion.
