Quote:It's amazing how every civilized country with gun control has virtually no random mass shootings and yet the country that does have random mass shootings is utterly convinced gun control doesn't work.

We know it works, we saw how well in Armenia, Germany, Russia and the like. We also know why we won't let it happen here. Perhaps you could have an introspective moment to consider that maybe us not letting it happen here helps provide a world in which you can permit it to happen there, since we'll always be around to help out when the barbarians come to your gates.

I've seen a Godwin's law before. But until now I'd never seen a triple Godwin's law.

Pretty much.

Damnable history and such.
Quote:Sounds like they're still in denial about losing one of the colonies.

Yep that's it. Don't mention the lost colonies to a Brit. We can't stand the pain!

Who knew it was so simple!  While we're at it, we should also enact drug control legislation, then we'll have virtually no drug problem.

Hell, how about a law against driving too fast and not driving while drunk?

Better yet, mandate a 1,500 calorie a day diet for all citizens. That will stop the hundreds of preventable deaths due to heart disease and diabetes that cost us so damn much money.

In fact, lets just cull the population by 2 billion to free up resources for important people like me. All you bastards get off my planet at once.
Are you arguing that gun control hasn't worked in Australia?
The guns in Australia went into deep hiding.  Less than 20% were turned in.

And that discredits 20 years without a mass shooting?
What happened in Australia was not gun control but people control.

According to the stats I found, there were zero mass killings of any kind in Australia from 1928 until 1971.

From 1971 to 1996 there were 12, mostly one person killing several members of his family (using firearms, more if you include stabbings, arson and multiple occurance murders). The other was a shootout between biker gangs.

Since 1996 there's been 4.

So yeah, not 20 years without a "mass shooting" and statistically the recent years haven't been any less bloody than the previous hundred.

Now look at what you've done!   You took away all their hot air.

Even more impressive when you consider the population was 18 million in 1996 and now is about 25 million. But yeah must be a coincidence. Just like the Sydney siege guy could only get his hands on a shotgun. Would have been better if he could legally buy an assault rifle...

Lol, I'll give you credit, your mind certainly can't be troubled with pertinent facts.

Face it, your few mass shootings were a statistical anomaly on an otherwise peaceful population. Your gun confiscation did little to nothing to change that.

It's also interesting that before 1928 most of the mass killings on your little island were the government killing the natives. Funny how that works...first you disarmed them and then you exterminated them. So much like everyone else that you can't even see the similarities or the danger.

So you're admitting gun control doesn't actually prevent a shooting, but merely lessens the potential for damage?  Thanks, now we're getting somewhere.

So unless you can prevent all of a kind of crime it isn't worth trying? Very bizarre logic.

What you are calling for is further gun control where farmers can't even have a gun? Sure it may work but we are happy with no more mass shootings...

I'm sure in a generation or two you lot will grow up and discuss a solution. Just hope it isn't your kids school shot up first...

Yep must be a coincidence the mass shootings disappearing after port Arthur. Especially with the massive population growth.

Again, they didn't. Mass killings continue at the same pace as the last 100 years.

I'm sure you are enjoying the cops now being picked off by good guys with guns.
