No, there are still rules about what the boundaries are for positions and numbers.
For example, you can't be a WR/C or WR/DT, etc. just to get a desired number.
Each position has an allowable range or ranges. It's not that he's RB/WR... it's that his number falls in the allowed WR range.
I don't think the O-line is strong enough to make Yeldon a great back... he stumbles all over the field when he's barely touched. The Jags need to wake up and draft a RB that doesn't need a great line to make him great. :unsure: They do exist.

No, that's not what happened at all.
The Jaguars invented a position that was not recognized by the NFL called "OW" or "offensive weapon."
The league slapped them on the wrist and made them designate a real position. So, the Jaguars had to change him from "OW" to RB/WR like other players in the league who do both.
I always hope a Jaguar player does well, however, they brought in Ivory for a reason. Ivory should make our putrid running game much better. In theory we should have a much more balanced team. We have the air power, now we have ground power (supposedly).
IMO, Yeldon will be a good relief for Ivory who I assume will take most of the snaps. I can't wait for Caldwell to draft another Fred Taylor or Jones-Drew. That would set this team over the top.
Not sure how the RB situation will turn out, but one thing is for sure, Ivory is the starter day 1. If you watch Ivory, he is a bell cow, he starts off well, but usually, by the end of the season, he tires out. Ivory was on my fantasy team last season, great for me, but but dipped once the season wore on. This is where Yeldon comes in, I think Ivory starts the season with most of the carries, then Yeldon takes over mid way through the season. Cant say Yeldon will be a break out player or put up huge stats, but it just depends on Ivory. How well Ivory does will dictate how much playing time Yeldon gets. Jaguars love to pass and with all of our weapons, only so many players will put up the numbers. I cant imagine Yeldon is our offensive workhorse this season. With Robinson, Hurns, Thomas, Bortles, Ivory, Lee etc Its just tough to see him "breaking out". It really all just depends on Ivory.

At least you're consistent.
Yeldon looked great last night and I'm really glad it seems they will use he and Ivory as a true tandem. (even if Ivory gets more snaps in the red-zone)

I really like watching him run the ball. His balance is really extraordinary.
