Poz seems like the type to retire and sign back on as an assistant linebackers coach.
How so?
Because he always seems overly invested. Which is a good thing.
Poz will be pushing 32 and the start of the season. I truly can't see him playing too much longer, especially here. He will groom Jack this season and then Myles will take over next year as our MLB. Your backup LBs usually play a lot on special teams and I can't see a 33 year old Poz doing that.

I really hope to make the playoffs this year so Poz can get a taste of the postseason for once.

Like in film study?
Not this year. Next year we will see "the changing of the guard" so to speak. This year Jack will play nickel MLB and come in on special occasions.
I'd have to say Poz pretty much made the most of his NFL career.

I am guessing he is gone after this year, with Jack taking over the MLB spot.

He'll sign a one year deal with the Pats and try to get that ring.

Quote:@sbjaxfl Gus says Myles Jack will play MLB next week in mini-camp. Poz fans, take note.

Or would they keep him as a backup?

Jack will play MLB with the SECOND team next week behind Posluszny.

Jack will eventually play MLB on third downs with Posluszny playing first and second.  Outside of that, Caldwell and Wash have mentioned using him in a hybrid role (not MLB) on passing situations (besides third down) as well.

Let's not go writing off Poz just yet campers. Jack is an insane athlete, but he'll need to learn the defense and show consistency against the run before he takes the starting job.  Poz going elsewhere is a conversation for next season.

Quote:I literally can't think of a reason we'd cut Poz. What are you all saying. He's the captain of our defense, he could take Myles under his tutelage, he wants to be here, he's productive, he's one of our best players, he's not breaking our bank, he's knows the defense, we are thin at LB. stop me when I'm making too much sense.
I Concur to All of the above. It's Poz's job to groom Jack into the weapon that the Jaguars drafted him to be. Poz has accepted this task to which he knows that the clock ticking and it'll fore sure run out here in Jacksonville. Poz is the better fit a this point and time but make no mistake that there's a new sheriff in town and he's destined to be the QB of our defense...

Time Will Tell...

I can't see M. Jack playing ST this year behind Poz. I'm hoping that Poz will relinquish the MLB position to Jack and Continue to be a Jaguar for the next three to four years. I say this because if he were to leave while signing w/another team and we catch fire while headed to the SB, he'll be SOL... IJS...

In a couple of years I see Poz living a Bohemian lifestyle on Venice Beach with Justin Blackmon and a glassy-eyed, heavily bearded and overweight Tim Tebow.
Gus/Dave have said from the start Jack will start off at MLB to learn the defense better.
This is it for Poz!! He will be used as a 2 down player.. After the season hes gone... Unless he sign for significantly less money...
It's his last year. I could see Paul being involved in short yardage situations or against the run as always. But when it comes to 2nd or 3rd and long he's a huge liability in pass coverage and that's where Myles Jack has excelled at the UCLA. We needed more athletes on defense and we've got one in Jack. Pairing him up with Smith next year with him inside is going to be the best bet we have for the long term.

I still don't think it's his last year unless he retires. Which at his age is possible.

But if he wants to keep playing, I could definitely see him re-signing for cheap, he likes it here.

He might like it here, but chances are he can find a better deal as a stop gap MLB on another team. Like most players he'll probably follow the money.

It's laughable how Poz has been "cut" by the ignoranti ever since he got here.

Reminds me a bit of those who had "cut" Meester for what seemed like a decade.  He's the least of what's been wrong with that defense.  He's got a place here for sure.

The issue with Poz being on the Jags is that he had to be the Jags "playmaker".  Poz is more talented than players like James Farrior and Larry Foote from the Steelers but those "role players" had the advantage of playing with people like James Harrison and Lamar Woodley.  As a result, Poz gets criticized while Farrior and Foote get praised.

I hope that dinosaur is on his way out or to the bench.
