Yuck, soccer

I'm excited. Ready for tomorrow's game!

Me too. I'm hoping the US shows well in this thing.

Quote:Me too. I'm hoping the US shows well in this thing.I think they will. The youth movement is on, (or should be). Some of the younger guys have been playing really well, it has been a lot of fun to watch. Nagbe, Wood, Pulisic, and Zardes (although I've lost a little confidence on him lately, but should be a bright light going forward) are all young ones who are going to be really good I think. My favorite young guy might be Jordan Morris, though he's not on the Copa America roster. Young guys in the back are going to be good too, Brooks and Yedlin who has already proven he's a stud.
All that said, the draw is terrible. Toughest pool in the tournament I think. Colombia is a tough one out of the gates, current world #3, but you've eventually got to beat the tough ones anyway!

Yup, tough draw. Group A looks really tough.

I know that the game will be on FS1 but does anybody have any suggestions on where I can "watch" it?
Feel free to PM.

Need 3 points tonight against Costa Rica for sure. They got a draw in their first game. We lose, we out.

We tend to do well with our backs against a wall. I really want to see a DOMINATING performance out on the pitch. I don't want us to win by barely scraping by… Columbia is a great team but we need to step up our game against lesser teams.

That should not have been a penalty, honestly.

Quote:That should not have been a penalty, honestly.Absolutely should have been. Wood had the position, was set up perfectly. Defender gave him no chance to make a play on the ball nor did he make a play on the ball. He knew he was beat and had no other option but to do what he did and hope nothing was called.

Either way, convincing victory like I hoped. I wish we could tidy up those moments where we lull ourselves in the second half because great teams would capitalize against us during that time.

Much better performance from USA last night.

The Costa Rica dude pushed him in the back. You just can't do that on a corner kick. You can see the Costa Rica player clearly extend his arms which prevented Wood from jumping as he stumbled forward from the push.
This is a very well defined rule and was a good call in accordance with the rule book. Personally, i'd like to to see a greater distance on penalty kicks when violations are less severe than perhaps a blatant tackle on a breakaway.

Brazil got hosed. I thought Peru was going to get hosed by a reverse of the goal call but that turned out to be wrong after they finally showed the replays. Wow! Brazil going home

Wow, I didn't expect that too happen (Brazil going home). I thought they were going to win that group. The announcers for the US/Paraguay match were even saying Brazil was going to be the Group B winner. I didn't see their match. I can't believe they didn't score in that one.
Anyway, looks like the US gets Ecuador. Ecuador hasn't lost yet (2 draws and a Win). Might be a tough one, especially with some key suspensions for the US.

Brazil is a shell of its former self. Still pretty good but not the dynasty they used to be. I'm glad to see them knocked down a notch with Dunga seemingly a repeat failure as the coach of Brazil.
The US will have their hands full with the Ecuadorians. Nobody is unbeatable and I think if the boys score early and match the pace of Ecuador, the result could be in our favor. This is shaping up to be a good match so I'm looking forward to it.

Brazil didn't bring their "A" team.
