It seems somebody was "offended" by a memorial to honor fallen soldiers for Memorial Day.

Since some of our liberal friends don't like stories from FOX News, here is a local news story regarding the same thing.

This is beyond ridiculous. Depending on which story you believe, it's still pretty dumb to remove the display. It also seem to be a single call to the office of city manager that prompted this.

What would Canada do? That is the question we should be asking, and then look to Canada to find the answer. They have the answers to all our problems. This is obvious.

But, just to speak for the other side here, isn't it kind of clumsy to just assume that all their fallen veterans were Christians?

You conservatives are just looking for stuff to get mad about. They put up a bunch of crosses, someone called up and said, do you really think you should do that, after all, they may not all be Christians, so they said, hey, you're right, and took them down, and now it's NATIONAL NEWS.

You guys need to get a grip. If you spend your whole life being offended that others are offended you are going to constantly be miserable.

These conservatives are constantly getting offended at every little thing. Really ridiculous. They are always showing up at rallies and stuff shouting down other people for being "racist". Starting to get old.
Lol jib is triggered again, what's new?

Too late
So is this memorial improper? Should it be taken down?

The image is a photo taken from Normandy France at a cemetery that consists of U.S. soldiers buried there overlooking Omaha Beach.

Just something to think about with Memorial Day coming up.

You're coming unhinged jib.
You don't think it's important to make sure that you honor the correct faith of those that fought for our freedom? By just assuming they are all Christian is doing those Jewish AND Muslim veterans that gave the ultimate sacrifice to our nation a HUGE disservice.

If you ever visit Arlington National Cemetery, as many are doing on this Memorial Day, you may notice that every now and then, a crescent pops up among the field of crosses. Few Americans are aware that many American Muslims have fought and died in the US Armed Forces, including in Iraq. When you wander the cemetery grounds that overlook Washington, DC, you’ll notice the grave of Army Captain Humayun Khan, who lured a suicide car bomb away from the men in his charge, saving their lives but giving up his own.

A: Those are actual graves, not symbols.

B: Walk through that cemetery and you'll find the occasional Star of David as well. That's because (again) they're actual graves. If the entire cemetery were crosses I'm sure there would be a complaint from the families of the Jewish soldiers buried there.

No, you honor the person and what they did for our country. It's not about "faith" or religion. It's about what the person did for us.

Then use something that represents the country to honor them.

I doubt it, because the families that lost their loved ones probably aren't/weren't concerned about PC.

It has nothing to do with being PC...

I'm not going to get drawn into making this into a religious argument.

If a South Georgia town with a population of 2,332 thinks that it's alright to put that memorial up and only one (by some accounts) person disagrees with it, then it should never have been pulled down. Now in a South Georgia town with a population of 2,332 how many do you think were "offended" by the display because there were crosses involved?

It's absolutely a matter of pc to honor the fallen with the appropriate symbols. For a long time it wasnt, and it isn't bad that it now is.

I'm not trying to drawl you into a religious argument., so stop being paranoid. Lol

I think the issue someone had was that they were all crosses and didn't take into account the different religions of the individual soldiers. Instead of taking it all down, wouldn't it have been easier to add whatever symbols fit the few soldiers in a town of 2300 people that might not fall under that particular religion?

You've really lost it. You're offended that people are offended, and you're even more offended that their taking offense has offended you.
