Quote:I'd want to get picks in this draft. Not give them.

The DTs on this roster currently are:

Michael Bennett, Sheldon Day, Calais Campbell (on nickel downs), Abry Jones, Malik Jackson, Louis Nix

Factor in the possibility of Jon Allen in the first round and I don't see a reason to squander a pick for a rotational DT.

Hell, they just let SenDerrick Marks walk. If they were hard up enough for a guy to get 20 snaps a game at 3 tech to blow a pick on him, they'd have just kept Marks.

i have high hopes for Day. louis nix was also a highly touted prospect, he might wind up becoming a nice fit at NT whenever we shift that way.

it really depends on what teams think of jernigan. i think he is an upgrade from what we have right now, but doesnt mean that one or more of these guys achieves that next level and saves us from needing to put much more into the DL.
Please God don't trade away picks in this draft.
Not that jernigan isnt worth it but trading for him just cultivates more of a log jam at DT imo
Maybe jets trade up ahead of Tennessee and take lattimore

The
Ravens should only trade
Timmy Jernigan if they can get a second-day draft pick in return, and that seems unlikely,
Jeff Zrebiec of The Baltimore Sun writes. There has been speculation that the defensive tackle could be on the block and
coach John Harbaugh didn’t do much to slow down that talk when asked about it earlier this week. Jernigan, who is entering his contract year, appeared in every regular season game last season and totaled five sacks. He seemed to run out of gas towards the end of the season and his playing time was slashed down the stretch, but he still stands as Baltimore’s only interior pass-rush threat.

My commentary:

Given that Timmy Jernigan had 5 sacks for the Ravens in 2016 from the interior, I could see him as a rotational guy with Malik Jackson at the 3 Tech DT.

I might give up the Jags Rd 4 and latter Rd 7 Pick in a trade for Jernigan.

It is not a Day Two Pick but it is a high Day 3 Pick

Your thoughts?

"Entering his contract year..."

That's important. It means he will be a LOT more expensive than the draft pick we give up to get him.
The jets have worked out all the top QBs so far. Think its fair to say they will seriously consider a QB at #6...which means you may want to get ahead of the Jets to secure your guy if you are the Browns/Bills/Cardinals, so the Titans are once again in a very very good position depending on the 49ers and Bears not taking QBs.
