Quote:Dude hit a girl that attacked him 1st. I personally would never hit a woman but I also have no issue with him retaliating after being assaulted. If this was a man that attacked him this wouldn't even be a issue.

That being said I hope the Jags take him in the 2nd round

That's pretty much the whole issue though.
Quote:edit- Not much consequence for crushing a girls face bones.
He missed an entire year of football, got community service, and is now going to lose out on millions of dollars by being drafted on day 2 instead of being the first RB drafted like he likely would have been if this never happened.

He might not have gone to jail, but let's not say there hasn't been a boatload of consequences.

Yes, he will suffer financial consequences.big deal. That was hardly my point. He received a slap on the wrist from the legal system for crushing a girls face bones and walking off with out thought.

Self defense
Let's not shed too many tears about his story.

Some (but not all) athletes have been granted passes in order to allow them to pursue their pro careers.

He's really not facing much consequence at all, as he's still free to pursue his career.  Allen Iverson nearly killed a guy and was given a pass for it so it wouldn't interfere with his career path.  A punk like LeGarrett Blount wasn't held back from winning a ring.  Again, not every athlete is granted such a pass in order to pursue professional sports, but many do.

I don't care where he's drafted.  He should be thankful for his opportunity, and no one should feel "sorry" for him falling in the draft or losing a little money over it.  That's really no heavy consequence at all.

He should be counting his blessings, but instead his apologists are counting his benjamins.  <shrugs>

That's why the Pats are never off-season champs. What a bunch of chumps.

The problem is the tape is always going to be brought up. Drafting him would be bad enough. Drafting him in round two would be a PR nightmare.

Just so I'm clear, if he were to be attacked by a 5 year old child and he broke their face, you would consider that self defense as well?

If it were you or me, you know well that we wouldnt be getting 100 hours of community service on some alford plea. If he wasn't a highly touted football player, he wouldnt be back on campus with the girl he hit.

Well guess what, it was an adult who struck him 1st. Did he have to punch her in the face, no, but she physically started the altercation PERIOD. What kind of pussified society have we become, woman want equal rights, then be prepared to be treated like an equal if you want to start a physical altercation.

There is nothing equal about it. A slap from a little lady, didn't even look hard doesnt justify smashing her face to pieces. It's about proportional response. If he just pushed her away and got outta there, nobody would care.

And if it was you or me it wouldn't have cost us millions of dollars. Look at it however you want as far as drafting the guy goes, but "didn't face any consequences" is wrong.

He certainly didn't face any consequences he didn't deserve.  In light of what he did, he should still feel fortunate.

Sure, and that's a completely different and fair statement.
His "missed year of football" he got redshirted and kept his scholarship. Not like he was kicked off the team. 100 hours of community service? Not really a consequence when most college athletics teams do it anyway.

And the cost millions thing is purely hypothetical. Because no one can say for sure if he was a day one pick without his multiple incidences of questionable behavior.
I'm super smart and before I turned this ladies face into hamburger, I was going to make  5 million dollars, now I will only make 2 million.

No need for jail, I've been punished enough!

the difference in first round picks and second round picks is much larger than 3 million
and even then, the stance that there isnt a difference between making 5mil or 2mil because youre still making millions isnt a good one.

This is why I don't respond to you. You argue about nothing. Instead of focusing on the point being made, you're off talking about something dumb.  It's clown behavior.

the point is that the money hes losing is miniscule since hes still making a sizeable amount of money, but if you're going to go there you cant be inaccurate about the money actually being lost or else that invalidates what youre saying.
