Cyprien has started every game he's been healthy the past three seasons, but is a liability against the pass and had a team-high 21 missed tackles last year.

The Jaguars could start sophomore James Sample and convert Cyprien into a sub-package linebacker to limit his coverage exposures.

The Florida Times-Union expects Sample to open 2016 opposite FS Tashaun Gipson. Mar 26 - 8:31 PM

------------------------------------

"We took a look at him and divided it – when he was close to the line of scrimmage and when he was back – and where did he play better and was more consistent," coach Gus Bradley said. "We felt being in the box allowed him to utilize his skill set."

-----------------------------------------

Hence Gus is thinking of moving Cyprien to LB.
No this implies they want him to be an in-the-box safety ala Kam Chancellor.
Okay, I guess we will find out...

Cyprien did good towards the end of his rookie year but then struggled up and down at times since...

Of course he wasn't able to play close to the line as a run stopper like you had mentioned above, but they did tell the press that they are thinking about moving Cyprien to SOLB (of course that was before the draft)..

Honestly I thought for a sec there that Myles Jack would play SS & Cyprien was going to battle Skuta for SOLB but that doesnt appear to be what the Jaguars coaching staff is hinting with Myles Jack being a SOLB instead.

According to Foxsports' Peter Schrager, we had the 3rd best draft in the division behind Tennessee and Indy.

Apparently, we didn't draft enough tackles to suit him. Rolleyes

B+? Must be the teacher who thinks no one in the class deserves an A.

Here is what our comments really boil down to....

"Now, the team just needs to deliver. Sadly, I feel like that's becoming a broken record."

That captures my sentiment. I think the GM is an A+ guy but the team operations and game day present the Achilles heel.

That's the lingering question/suspicion.

Talent is now not a negative issue.
Quote from Mike Freeman at BR:

"I think the Jaguars and Raiders (especially the Jaguars) are the best options to replace the Patriots as the next great franchise.

Yes, sure, I know. Getting ahead of myself, but I do think we're watching The Revenge of the Dregs."

Never thought I'd hear that tbh.... Not a major source, but when did any of us think this would be stated about the Jags? Either way, still gotta produce on the field.

GO JAGS!!

Guy literally gave the Rams and Eagles an A. My wife is an Eagles fan and she gave their draft a C-.

Also literally said the tacks had the best draft overall. I know a couple of tacks fans who would very much disagree.

13. Jacksonville Jaguars: B+

If draft grades in May were Lombardi Trophies, the Jaguars would have an auditorium full of them. The media has drooled over some of the classes Jacksonville has had in recent years, but I honestly think this might be the best haul yet. Both Jalen Ramsey and Myles Jack could be superstars, while Yannick Ngakoue could be a beast off the edge. With all they added in the preseason, it's been a heck of an offseason for GM Dave Caldwell. Now, the team just needs to deliver. Sadly, I feel like that's becoming a broken record.

Best value pick: Myles Jack, OLB, UCLA, 36th overall

In a "which team won the draft" debate on NFL.com, five analysts voted for Jacksonville: Jeffri Chadiha, Gil Brandt, Bucky Brooks, Michael Robinson, and of course MJD.

That preseason champion banner will look sick when they finally unfurl it!

In all seriousness though... It's time for this group to start putting everything together mentally and dominating on the field in real games.

Adam Schein wrote a list of teams that improved the most during the draft. His #1 team is Jacksonville.

Quote:When I played draft matchmaker with the Schein Nine a couple weeks ago, I listed Myles Jack as the perfect fit for Gus Bradley's defense in Jacksonville. Of course, I was talking about the Jags taking Jack fifth overall. As it turned out, the team landed the linebacker in Round 2 (No. 36 overall)!

I'm still in stunned disbelief.

I felt terrible for Jack as he sank out of the first round, presumably because of concerns about his surgically repaired knee and long-term health. I'm not a doctor, but frankly, I think teams panicked after Jack openly talked about the potential of one day having microfracture surgery prior to the draft. The UCLA product is a stud who can play all three linebacker spots and even safety. He's special. He's unique.

Oh, and he's also the second-best defensive player the Jaguars drafted. Jalen Ramsey was a complete steal at No. 5 overall. He's a can't-miss defensive back who must be dreamy for Bradley.

I thought the two best defensive players in the draft were Ramsey and Jack, and the Jaguars -- who ranked 24th in overall defense and 29th against the pass in 2015 -- got them both. Incredible.
While it's nice to read praise, I don't put too much stock in these things. You can't judge a draft class in its first two days, let alone the first two years even. Sorry, but the Jagaurs history of busts has colored my positivity with a slight dose of cynicism.

Show me a bust on this list if you can.

Where's joekell and Cyp on your list, dude? Look Caldwell has done a great job. But let's not get crazy over here.
no one can say that the media doesnt talk about the Jags, now its time to put it all together on the field

Prove it time. I like the positive press and coverage but the fact is Caldwell is looking like a good pickup for the front office and football operations. We need more on the field. Of course we have some waiting to do before we see it. Go Jaguars!!
Followed this guy throughout the draft process and I think he really knows his stuff. Can't argue with much of his analysis here:

Good read. The writer of the article is really high on Holmes. It'll be interesting to see how these rookies shake out on the depth chart come training camp and preseason. July is just a couple months away...
