Quote:IDK.. i cant seem to get excited about Jack. Bosa is a Beast of a football player coming off of the edge, with Pro pedigree

His dad was a bust.

Who cares? Often I see the opposite: HOF dads have sons who aren't nearly as good. Only one member of the Bosa family matters and that's Joey.
He didn't know that Jacksonville was along the water... that bothered me a bit to be honest....

Charles Cassey likes him and he knows defensive lineman, but most think that the Cowboys will draft him (he's too much of a need/talent).

Then again if you look at Free Agency Jaguars signed a FS (Jalen Ramsey - TaShaun), signed a corner (Prince-Jalen/Vernon), they signed a DT/DE (Malik Jackson-Buckner) but they didn't really address LE (I mean Odrick could play LE or DT and Fowler if healthy will play Leo) but they really didn't address LB (SOLB - Skuta was signed but struggled, and Poz is getting old / injured) - Myles Jack or Floyd

They signed Beachum (but hes injured might not be ready by week1 & he was very vague on Luke extension) so if you went by intel from Free Agency alone

you would think that Tunsil has the most weight if there (premium position & need & tied for best talent in the draft), or Myles Jack whom could even play SS as a hybrid SOLB like how Seattle uses Kam Chancellor

That is why most mock drafts have the Jaguars drafting Myles Jack (they see him as Kam on their scheme or worst case as Bobby Wagner), combined with two meetings with HC & GM and while teams say his knee could mean a short career most feel he will be ready to play week 1 at a high level & that is all they care about...

Honestly so much potentially high elite talent (10 players) in this years draft that even trading back a few spots isnt horrible since the team will still get a great guy either way.. unless they gamble with a reach pick

That is what I am worried about - the Cowboys drafting him. Reading about two defensive linemen being suspended four weeks made me happy.

Of course, the Cowboys could draft Ezekiel Elliott and have made it clear they like him too.

Bosa is a meathead.

Quote:Did you miss all the threads about Jack being a SS/LB hybrid?
No I didn't.

I also didn't miss the Polian segment that spoke specifically about him as a LB prospect, which is what I focused on here.
Quote:I've seen him blow up 300 lb offensive lineman, I think he's plenty strong to play mlb, the only question Imo will be be his health. Personally think it's a non issue but we will have to see if the Jags feel the same way. I gotta imagine they are very interested if they flew out too Cali to work him out. nfl.com is reporting he might possibly slide out of top 5 even top 10.
See, this is how I saw Jack prior to that segment.

Now I'm wondering.
Quote:Why does Bill Polian think a linebacker known for his versatility can't be Paul Posluszny's successor? And where did he get the idea Myles Jack is too small? He is full of crap. Not one report about Jack mentioned concerns about his size. All of the reports I read state he is a lock for the top 10, probably top 5, partly because he can play all three linebacker positions. The only reported concern teams have is his right knee.
Polian didn't say Jack was too small.

He said he wasn't strong enough to play MLB.
Quote:See, I agree with D6 here. If this were 10 years ago and RB's were running all over the league, then I'd probably want a stronger MLB. I love Poz, but his frame is best-suited in run support. He's always been a liability in coverage.

With Jack, we'll have an athletic MLB who's not afraid to hit, but is nearly as adept in coverage. This is what the modern NFL LB corps is becoming. Let's embrace the chaos.
There is a distinct possibility Polian is operating under an outdated MLB paradigm.

I think Jack is an exciting prospect and I'd like to have him here and very successful.  But having a guy like Polian challenge the way I viewed Jack gives me a little pause.

Miami or Chicago might trade up to draft him before Dallas.

Didn't JJ Watt have a problem with Twitter too?
Quote:Can anyone photo shop Jack in a Jags uni?

You're welcome

I'm still on the Jack train. I hope we can trade back with San Fran and pick up another 2nd or 3rd and still get Jack. Then maybe wait or move back up and get Spence. *Dave waits for camera to pan on him, drops mic...... walks out door*

GO JAGS!!

I get that completely... As much as I want to give Polian the ol' Chinese waterboard for what he did to us for 12 years, the man flat knows his stuff. And, I'd take him in Jax yesterday, if he wanted to consult for us.
I think there's a lot of pressure on Dave.  He's had some bad luck with knee injuries, hasn't he?  He plans his drafts a couple years in advance, so when he saw a lack of top-flight edge rushers in the 2016 draft, he spent the 2015 #3 overall on Fowler, lost to a knee.  So Dave enters this draft not even knowing what he's got in Fowler.  Is he Lawrence Taylor?  Is he just an average guy?  And how's the knee?  The pass rush was woeful last year and Dave might still need a LEO

The Jags also need an infusion of talent at LB and TWO of the best LB prospects in a decade are there in the draft...both with knee injuries and both with complications that could threaten their careers.  Myles Jack at #5 seems to be the perfect fit - depending on the knee.  Jack could go #4 to Dallas or drop into the teens or lower.  Dave needs to get this pick right.  The Jags won't be picking top 5 again soon.

San Diego's GM said he is not receiving many calls for the #3 pick. I think the Chargers will stay put and pick Leremy Tunsil.

Dave Caldwell had one stroke of bad luck with a knee injury. If Myles Jack is the pick and hurts his knee again, would you really consider it bad luck for a guy who already had cartilage tearing off the bone?

After Jack's medical recheck, some teams had concerns about his longevity. Anonymous sources fear he won't play past his rookie contract. I doubt the Jaguars are one of them.
