Quote:If we trade to 8, we could still land Bosa or Jack.
QBs, Tunsil, Ramsey, Buck, Stanley most likely go in the top 6.
I'd be ok with this.
Yeah for sure, but it makes the idea of Leonard Floyd as a more serious contender. If we trade out of 5, it's fairly obvious we aren't comfortable with Jack's knee I'd say.
^@Bklyn, you realize he said that it was pure speculation and had no serious wheels when he posted it, no?
Quote:This is all just someones opinion.
I understand that this one was pure speculation, and said that in the initial post. I had heard it from a Cleveland sports radio source first when there on business, that the Browns had a desire to possibly move up for an elite defensive prospect. I just grabbed this article to show the rumor or speculation (it's not just this one guy's thoughts).

Yeah you said that when you posted it, I don't get why he's making a deal out of this.
It'd be awesome tbh if we don't pass Jack's knee. If we do I'd rather play it safe and get the elite talent, but if we're iffy on him I'd totally be down to move back and get a guy we may not have been comfortable with at 5 but do now since we dealt back a few slots and gained draft capital. Or hell, we could end up getting a target like Bosa we had all along. I don't think we'd take Jack in a trade down unless it was mid teens and he was still there, we'll either stay at 5 and get him or trade back for someone else imo.
Quote:Apparently Chicago really wants Buckner and IF he is there at 5 do we trade back to #11 and target Lawson/VH3/Floyd? What would you want in return?
I thought the Bears really wanted Elliott, at least that is what Elliott had said...

This makes sense if they really are targeting a guy like Floyd or Lawson.
Dont the Browns have a RB Head Coach, so sure I can see Elliott as being high on their draft board..
Of course if you are a defensive minded HC they tend to draft Offense first & vice versa like Gus did in his first 3 years...
I do think that GM Dave Caldwell wants more picks to address Center Ryan Kelly or Nick Martin (IMO) and LT would be nice to pick up in the 1st or 2nd round, along with CB the good ones will be gone by the 3rd /4th round, yet DL could be there in the 6th & 7th (sure not the 10 sacks a year in rookie year kind but the ones that could start and be good against the Run for example)
or scheme guys like Andre Branch type player...
If I was GM Dave Caldwell I would draft LT Tunsil if he was there at 5 or Jalen Ramsey if Tunsil was gone and Jalen was there, if both were gone I would take Bosa or Buckner but if I got an offer (that would have to include
next years 1st round {That is key without that don't do it} and swap this years first {thats a duh} and this years 2nd round it would probably be too tempting not to do it (especially if he can stay in the Top 10 like the Browns, 49ers, etc).
I think he plans on trading with Browns or 49ers and drafting Floyd (just my gut feeling)...
Quote:There's some speculation (pure unsubstantiated rumor) in Cleveland that their GM has a deal in place with Caldwell to trade up from 1-8 (plus some other pick or picks) to take Buckner if he is on the board at 1-5. This rumor leaves the Jags at 1-8, where likely Jack or Lawson may still be there. Using the trade chart as a guide, Cleveland might give up 3-77 and 4-100, in addition to 1-8, to make the deal happen.
If we trade to 8 with Cleveland, I'd like to see them switch picks in the second round instead of getting the 4th rounder. So, Cleveland would get 5 and the Jags move to 8. The Jags would move to pick 32 and Cleveland to 38. The Jags get pick 65. Jags come out on top by 35 pts, if going by the chart. Plus with the first pick in the second round gives us more flexibility to trade back into the lower first round or down some if someone is willing to give up something good or just get the best player available on the second day. Personally, I'd love to see them land Ryan Kelly with that pick.
I would be upset if GM Dave Caldwell traded down and didn't get a 1st round pick next year (in addition to swapping places in the first this year) & a 2nd round pick this year (or 3rd or 4th if traded down and still inside the Top 10)..
if he gets like an extra 2nd & 3rd but trades out of the Top 10 and doesn't get next year's first.. to me that would be a bad deal...
Example of good situation...
I would be happy if he traded down with Browns or 49ers receiving 7/8th pick in the draft, next year's 1st round pick (both teams wont be that great this year so it'll be another Top10 pick) & this years 2nd & 3rd...
(able to draft Center Ryan Kelly or Nick Martin while still getting a great Corner Vernon Hargreaves III, Eli Apple, Alexander) and a good Defensive Line or LB...
The thing about trading down is if you miss out on a grade 90+ player but get two extra 80+ grade players of need it might overall be a good thing (especially since drafting is a gamble & you increase your odds of success with extra guys).
