I think he's the best back in a very good RB draft. I would do my homework on him and draft him.
I can agree with that about Cook, he certainly has a long trend of troubling decisions.

Mixon though, I don't think any of us can say he can or cannot stay out of trouble. One single thing, as bad as it was, can't be called a pattern. His team interviews are critical.

It isn't one single thing though. He was suspended again in November for another incident. That plus the remorselessness does paint an ugly picture.

The way he showed no regrets or remorse for his actions were creepy and sociopathic.

Yes.

One incident. (Sarcasm)

I like this part especially.

Mixon then got into his vehicle and "inched at the officer with vehicle in drive to intimidate the officer with vehicle," the report details.
Quote:I think it's absolutely disgusting what Mixon did.

But I want him on this team if it only costs a 2nd or 3rd rounder. He is a big time talent. A future top 5 RB.

I just want the Jags to win. Not the morality olympics. Football games, dammit.
One thing we 100% agree on.

I hadn't heard or read anything about the specifics of that incident other than the original team rules violation, nor have I seen anyone else bring it up since then...so that's kind of odd it would be such a footnote already.

Not trying to fan your flame, but are you personally concerned or just fearful for the women in the Jacksonville community.  He plays Football, and hell, have you seen JSO in action.  He'll act right.  www.wjxt.com  I'll take a trade up to the late 1st even sir; if its OL for our 1st pick.

Once JSO is involved it is too late. Our family has been season ticket holders and huge fans since 95. The ladies in the family have already expressed that they would no longer follow the team if Mixon was drafted. For domestic abuse survivors to see everything brushed aside again because he is talented is salt in the wound, and I can understand and support their position completely. I think drafting him sends that exact message that you can do whatever, even hit women, and if you are talented enough, it all works out. Mixon will obviously get drafted by someone, but I just dont want him here.

I respectfully disagree on your stance but one man to another, if the Women have spoken so be it.  I'd do the same.

Just curious, but in all honesty where do they draw this line? Should they boycott Walmart or refuse to buy Starbucks because they have hired people with domestic abuse in the past?

I actually took your question to my wife to ask. She says, "Do you spend 3500 dollars a year Starbucks, wear starbucks jerseys, and go cheer on the abuser at his job he is getting paid millions for?"

Lol, I think some people do cheer for Starbucks that fervently.
Tom Coughlin is bringing in locker room leaders, he's not going to draft someone like Mixon who would divide the locker room. Character and maturity do matter.

He has no addiction problem and he has shown nothing but try and move past the incident. He isn't a psychopath with a fetish for hitting women for crying out loud. Draft him and have him under Tom's watch with some additional help to get over media crap.

I see team after team passing on Mixon, but at some point a team is going to want to go RB and is looking at very few options... maybe in the 5th round even... at some point the former potential first rounder is getting drafted.

He's not gonna go nearly that late. When a guy is that talented, certain teams will forgive everything short of being a baby rapist. I doubt he makes it out of the 2nd round at this point. You have teams like Kansas City, Philadelphia and Cincinnati that are in the market for RB's and all have had no problem in the past bringing in low character players.

He is very similar to Yeldon imo. A little more speed but not a homerun threat. I know you guys are down on yeldon but he's pretty talented

Honestly kinda agree with the caveat that I think yeldon plays just a little too slow to be a feature back in the NFL.

Mixon plays a good amount faster.

You know, I got the same impression watching Mixon.
