Quote:Can't we play this game both ways? So essentially keeping him is the same as not keeping him? So why not just let him go? What tangible thing do we gain by retaining him? Is there a bigger chance he plays football again or gets arrested again? I'm just trying to figure out the logic here.

As long as he is affiliated with the Jaguars club he will be a PR stain for us. "There goes the No. 5 overall bust by the Jags getting arrested again..".
If they cut him it means they have to go out of their way to process paperwork to release him. To keep him they have to do absolutely nothing at zero cost.

Why don't they cut him? The simple answer is that it's easier for them to not even bother with it.
Cutting him is doing him a favor.  Why would we do that again?

PR nightmare for the team when he gets in trouble?  I think you're letting your feathers get ruffled over nothing at this point.

Because he's 26 years old. I doubt he ever gets it together, but there's still time.
Quote:There is zero reasons to cut him. He doesn't hurt us in anyway, we don't pay him anything, and he doesn't take up a roster spot. I'd say we're making the right decision of keeping him on the roster just for the 0.1% chance he turns into Cris Carter 2.0
precisely.
Maybe he just wanted to say that he "Played in the NFL".. Maybe if he impresses his crack dealer, he gets a discount.

Celebrity endorsements are tough to come by.
Quote:It would be epic if he came back as a complete turn-around story with lighting-fast speed.

They'd have to call him greased lightin'.

And when he runs with the ball like rifle-shot across the field, the shocked fans would have to shout "Dear God!, Sweet Jesus!, and the Blackmon!"

But that's only in the movies.

It would be epic (to my wife) if I woke up and looked like Brad Pitt too.
91% chance he never returns
In all seriousness, when was the last time there was even a report on this guy?  It's hard to understand how a guy with his talent level completely falls off of the map.  I think that the national media will still be talking about Johnny Manziel three years from now when he has been three years removed from the league.

Not that it matters but he is still on madden I just signed him in fa to go with Arob devante Parker an Stephon diggs an he's actually a beast with like 90 speed an 87 stiff arm but 20 awareness lol even they know he supppuuuh duuumb
There is no hope left in his return. He would probably need 2 years to get back into football shape and then he would be 28. He doesn't seek motivated whatsoever so I believe he won't be back. But if he does decide to get his [BLEEP] together then i'm sure we will welcome him back, but it won't happen for a while or ever.

cut him
Why are we still talking about him? tbh, I just don't care.

Last I've heard any news was when he got another DUI back in December.

Zero reason to do so.
Quote:cut him
And what exactly will that do?
Quote:cut him
They were going to, but just changed their minds, just to annoy you. Tongue
he's coming back, duh

Can we get the name Blackmon edited out like sprinkles was?
It is what it is like some said if he has a turn around ala Carter or Mike Williams better for us than sum one else if we release him an hes instantly reinstated goes somewhere and eats it up same people will spaz say why'd we release him
