When Goodell visited Jacksonville yesterday, one of the questions he was asked as about the possibility of the draft coming to Jacksonville.   In his answer he put forth the idea of each of the draft's 3 days being held in different cities.   This seems like a good idea to me.   Like round 1 on Thursday being in one city, round 2 and 3 on Friday being in a different city, and so forth.  I'm thinking they could even put a day in between to let the people involved move around.

He also talked about the new amphitheater being a good place to hold a draft.   Probably just one day of it, I would guess.

Sounds like a real possibility. Khan had worked to create am environment where these things are possible. He knows we aren't getting another Superbowl, but why not a draft?
I think it's a great ideal to hold the draft in different cities every year.  But to hold different days of the draft in different cities is just plain silly.

Agree.  Teams would have to have remote war rooms (likely at their home offices) then have stand-ins on location to walk up their card.  They certainly wouldn't haul people from city to city every day.
I think Khan has his eyes set on hosting the draft when the construction is complete

Interesting.LA will be the home of the draft and combine in a few years once the Rams become established I think.
Why wouldn't we get another Superbowl? Khan has the stadium near top of the line with all these upgrades. In another 5 years I don't see why we wouldn't be considered

I really hope that was sarcasm. Because they already do this.
How about Ron Burgundy announce the picks?

I live in NJ and went to the draft in NY 5-6 years in a row, it's a great event to be apart of. The ESPN and NFL Network analysts interact with the fans during breaks, there's fans of pretty much every team reacting to every pick.

If the draft does end up in Jax, I highly recommend going (even if it's not Day 1).

Stadium is not the problem.

Not nearly enough hotel rooms.  Cruise ships will not cut it next time.

Aside from having to haul people from city to city.  That's the point.

They'll probably have to reduce the number attending each event, yet still have a larger satellite footprint due to logistics.

I wouldn't expect much of a fan turnout at the later rounds, either.

That actually worked out pretty well.  I worked on one of the Terminal projects.  No doubt it would go much smoother next time, too.  Many lessons learned.
Unfortunately, the prior Super Bowl hosting by the city was not perceived well league-wide.  I don't see the other owners agreeing with Jax as the location again anytime soon.

Again, I think the experience gave the city enough lessons learned to do a much better job.

I don't think the housing was as much an issue, as things to do/places to be, and the means to get to and from them.

Super Bowls are given out as a reward to a city for doing something special, like building a new stadium.   I don't think we are going to do that.

In addition, it's hard to see any benefit that Jacksonville derived from hosting the last Super Bowl.   All we got was a black eye.

I don't want another Super Bowl in Jacksonville.   We're just not well laid out for a Super Bowl.   Maybe in 10 or 20 years, when the Shipyards project is completed, and we have all sorts of hotels downtown, and a big entertainment district.   Otherwise, right now, just applying for another Super Bowl will only bring abuse from the national media, whether we get one or not.

I think they'd space it out with a few days in between.   Like having round 1 on a Wednesday night, rounds 2 and 3 on Saturday night, and the rest of it a few days later.  Imagine the coverage it would get after round 1 and before rounds 2 and 3, for example.   Mel Kiper can do a round 2 and 3 mock draft after round 1 has already taken place.

Sounds ridiculous, but it's all about making the NFL a year round sport.  A week-long draft in multiple locations could work.
It's absolutely ridiculous.  So, I assume that means Goodell is considering it.

Ridiculous ain't got nothin' to do with it.   It's all about money and promoting the NFL during the offseason.   Goodell talked about it during his town hall discussions in Jacksonville a couple of days ago.
