Quote:It would continue Dave's streak of taking the 4th or 5th best player still left on the board with our first round pick.
The guy that was the top rated player on multiple other teams boards and the guy the Falcons were and a couple other teams were looking to trade up for in Fowler wasn't the top rated player on the board?
News to me...
Honestly, I love the way VH3 carries himself and plays so not like I'd hate it. I just don't get why we wouldn't take Jack. If we come out with one of Ramsey, VH3, Jack, or Bosa I'd be happy. Hell, even Buckner would provide an impact player. The guy is a beast, he just happens to play at a position we're good at...but if you believe the guy is best player there is you take him.
VH3 just doesn't make any sense. Where does he play? House, Prince, Colvin?
2 players make sense in this draft. Bosa since we need pass rush and Jack since we didn't address any LB needs this off season.
I could also see Ramsey since he's so versatile.
Quote:Lol, oh i forgot. We need Buckner, he is a fit haha
Not sure what's funny about the truth?

You need more than three corners. With Prince's injury history, I sure don't want to bet on juts those 3 guys. Certainly don't feel good enough about the rest of our depth chart if one guy goes down. In a passing league, you need plenty more than just 3 corners, especially when one is on a one year contract and has an injury history. Even though I really like Prince it's the truth.

We still dont have that true number 1 corner and haven't had since Mathis in his prime. I wonder if Caldwell will be leery of taking a player with an injury after what happened with Fowler last year?

House looked well above average and the guy had zero pass rush in front of him. Put even a half way decent pass rush and think how much better the guy would be. Getting a #1 corner isn't an need. We could definitely use another solid corner, but we don't need to draft one in rd 1 to have a very good secondary this year.

Still dont have a corner that can cover the top receivers in the league. Never said we have to draft one in the 1st to have a good secondary. Hell we could draft Karl Joseph in the 2nd and it would be much improved. If we did draft Hargreaves though the secondary would be that much better.

Totally agree. I'm not knocking VH3 but passing up Jack to draft him? Just doesn't make sense to me. Caldwell has addressed everything but pass rusher and LB.
Jack is a really special player so I'm hoping for him.
I would like to repeat for the millionth time that 2015 was Davon House's FIRST TIME EVER STARTING. The man went from the Antarctica weather of Green Bay to the Jacksonville heat and managed to break the FRANCHISE PASS BREAK UP RECORD. With um....NO PASS RUSH while fighting injury and learning a new scheme!
How anyone can say House isn't capable of being our #1 corner is beyond me. Even Josh Norman just broke out and their defense/pass rush has been good for a few years now.
As for VH3 he will always be a liability against big receivers. Not sure if a corner like that warrants 1st round selection let alone top 5.

Im wondering if after what happend last year to Fowler, Caldwell might be a little leery of taking a guy in the top 5 coming off another injury? Not sure

What makes you falsely claim this? He didnt have a problem with bigger WR in his college career.

Jack is one of those special talents you roll the dice on and not one single person would blame you. He has potential to be an elite name in the vein of guys like Patrick Willis or Luke Kuechly.
On top of his skills as a linebacker the man can be a dominate running back which opens a whole different dimension with things you can do with him.
As long as the doctors give the all clear teams will not shy away from Jack. He's gonna be freaking special.

How do you know this? VH3 wouldn't have changed anything last year.
You are vastly underrating how horrible our pass rush was or you just think a corner can sit there and cover all day long. House did great last year considering what he was up against and that was his first year in this scheme. If he's not a #1 with a good pass rush, he'll be damn close.

How do I know? Because I watched every game! Did you not see the corner spot opposite House last year? It was Gratz, then he lost his job to McCray, then it was Gratz, then it was Marshall. There is a reason players were in and out of that spot is because they all sucked. There is a reason Dave went out and got Amukamara, its because our secondary was horrible as well. I know how bad our pass rush was but our secondary was horrible as well. There is a reason Dave has looked for help at corner and its not just to give money away.

This has nothing to do with my argument.
You are sitting here saying House isn't good enough to be the best corner on a team when you are sorely mistaken. He was very good last year with a piss poor pass rush.
I also said we do need more corner depth, that doesn't mean we need to spend the #5 pick on one. VH3 is nice and all, but you keep saying we need to take him because we don't have a #1 corner. You act like he is a lock to be a #1 corner and House isn't good enough to be one, both of which are untrue. House's film last year was very impressive, then take into account our 2nd leading pass rusher was Colvin, and our leading sack guy was our 5T which isn't even supposed to be producing much stat wise in this scheme, and the fact Clem/Branch were our two "pass rush specialists"....so yeah...I fully believe House has #1 stuff and we can easily find a corner in the rounds from 2-4 that would help the depth. When you add in that we did add a very solid corner, who is risky, but still a major upgrade, I feel good about the secondary. Put a half way decent pass rush out there to go with our secondary, makes me feel even better.
Quote:Oddly enough...from the guy who made this mock draft.

So DJ says he questions it and that means "VH3 he will always be a liability against big receivers" ? He said he he had a problem with Amari Cooper but I wouldnt consider Cooper a big WR. A lot of those yards Cooper put up didnt even come against Hargreaves.

I do believe that. His size is definitely considered an issue. If he struggles against a 6 foot 1 Cooper then how is he gonna do against the Brandon Marshalls of the NFL? How much of a liability will he be in red zone situations against fade passes? Or being one on one when the opposing offense calls a shot play downfield?
I feel like with VH3 he's a good #2 kind of corner. Solid and what you see is what you get. Maybe best suited as a nickel. I would rather take a guy like Mackenzie Alexander who has a higher ceiling.

Either you are blind, cant read very good, have reading comprehension problems, or just read what you want to on here. I have stated multiple times my top 2 guys in this draft are Jack and Bosa. That said I wouldnt be upset if we took Hargreaves. You might wine and cry about it but I know we will finally have a guy who can potentially be one of the better corners in the league imo. I like House but I dont think he is a true number 1 corner in the league and you thinking he is, is just your opinion and nothing more!
