Not at all, for profit prision systems is a total sham and just reeks of corruption.

Unfortunately you find that true in many countries including the united states.

How is a government program in any way considered "private sector?"

Quote:So corrupt government was the problem.

Yeah that's the problem... Private companies want revenue growth. Can you not see the conflict?

Yeah there is a clear conflict of interest arise in certain industries. Health being another...

Corrupt judges, unethical private businesses illegally bribing them. The push for privatization of the prison systems was likely promoted by politicians in the private companies' pockets.

The whole notion of a profit motive goes against the grain of public interest. We want to reduce inmate levels, not grow them.

Health system is a bit more complicated.

When private companies (or individuals or organizations) are able to corrupt government force to get what they want the solution is to remove that power from the government.

Ahh, so we should be allowing sentencing to be done instead by private companies.  You know... the same ones building those private prisons.  Yeah, no conflict of interest there for sure.  GMAB.

Obviously in this particular case sentencing has to be a government function, although it could be done by juries instead of judges. There is also the problem that there are so many things which are technically illegal that anyone can be found guilty of something any time the government chooses to do so. And that proliferation of "crimes" is also a symptom of an over-powerful government.

No one's advocating private prisons but it's a multiple level problems. Prison shouldnt be a profitering industry most agree, Malabar is rightly pointing out that this is just another example of how corrupt government is and how easy it is to corrupt. Which is why we have to advocate government at all levels having less power.

The chicken or the egg...
The ones who set this up got 2 years or less. Just think those two slime balls will already be back out to screw somebody else over in a very short period of time.

Maybe I look at like this, the desire to corrupt and buy power will always be present. So the best solution is to minimize the lower available power and make it not worth their time to buy politicians.

Even with a completley 100% public economy someone is still going to corrupt the public offials.
