Come on... OTTO? The Waterboy? You need explosion off the line as a pass rusher. I don't see that in Joekel.
But maybe SS.

A position where it's ok to get steamrolled... camera man.
Quote:How do you feel about Whitehair at C?
He's probably next best, but a fair bit below Kelly who is IOL tier by himself IMO. Also would be happy to have Whitehair stay at G and do the Linder to C experiment.

I kind of feel like moving Linder to C only weakens two positions.

This, this, and more this. Find a center or just let Bowanko have at it again, they said they were impressed with him after all.

But the thing is....Bowanko wasn't good. He was worse than Wisnewiki, minus the 1.5 bad snaps. He provided basically 0 push in the run game.
Draft a guy.
No way, why mess with a good young player and put a position change on his plate?
The second they started trying Bowanko at LT, I think it pretty much telegraphed what they though of his long term prospects at C.
Why would you move a guy to a completely different position in his second year if you saw him taking over as the starter for his first position in his third year?
He might be a Dennis Norman type, but I don't think the team views him as a long term starter.

Just curious, I'm sure you saw what Matt Miller thought of him.
I am fine with this move if it occurs. Coughlin did the same move with Brad Meester years ago and it ended up working out for a decade+. That's an important position to figure out on your team. Especially on a young offense with a young quarterback. Bortles will now have had three different centers during his first three years in the NFL.

It's not the same thing. Meester was a natural Center playing out of position as a rookie, and he wasn't 6'6". Brad was also clearly not an answer at LG where he was routinely bull rushed.

His time at LG was short lived for that reason though. I was very young at that time. Didn't really follow football like I do now. Ultimately he solidified that Center position and secured it for years to come after that switch. Linder is pretty dang big though to be playing at Center. If it works then it works though.
So, as it could potentially stand.
Joeckel - Cann - Linder - ??? - Parnell.
We still have a question mark at LG or RG depending on where Cann fits more naturally. Do you think this team targets another guard similiar to Cann in maybe RD3 or RD4? If we do go that route I like Joshua Garnett out of Standford and Rees Odhiambo out of Boise State.
If we're unable to draft Ryan Kelly, I'd rather give that new free agent OL the crack at Center and see what he could do...
LT Luke Joekel (until Beachum is healthy)
LG AJ Cann
C Mackenzie Bernadeau
RG Brandon Linder
RT Jermey Parnell
At least he was saying when he signed that he could play Center. I'd try just about anything to keep Linder at RG because he was an absolute beast there, and so was Parnell back when he played next to Linder. Besides, virtually any Center should do well playing between Cann and Linder.
I don't think they're necessarily thinking about putting Linder at center for the rest of his career, but they might think it's their best shot at keeping Bortles upright in 2016. Center is a tough position to learn and be good at as a rookie and there's no free agents left besides Wis who would be valuable as a plug and play starter here. I think they'll draft a guy in the 3rd round, maybe 4th, and groom him to take over next year (I fully expect the first 2 picks to be defenders). We have enough guys that can play guard to justify moving our best lineman over for a season.
Just my bet. Could be totally wrong, wouldn't be a first.

More of a corner imo
