Wonder what his opinion will be if/when we take 5 pass rushers/OLB's.

Anybody remember Bent Hubcap, as the Jags beat reporter?

Anybody ever think that the T-U could do worse?

Well, clearly what comes out of the ""O-Hole" is the SAME OLE SH..."

and there ain't nothing good about it.

The STENCH is a dead give-away
Quote:Ryan O is an idiot, along with Alfie and the rest if idiots at BCC

Ryan O or Alfie who is the bigger idiot? Clearly, Alfie is the fattest idiot but who is the biggest?
Quote:When we can't rush the passer like last season and lose games because of this and then the current regime is fired, who will look stupid then?

Probably the regime that gets fired and the fans that pat themselves on the back for saying they knew it bla bla bla. So basically Gus and You.
Who?
Had the Jaguars signed Vernon for "whatever it took" then cheesed ick O'Halloran would have been the first to critique the move.

His entire shitck is to complain about everything. I can't imagine he's very bright.
North Dakota, Kansas, New York, or Virginia....please some state take him back!

I love how he scoffed at the idea of the jags drafting a quarterback in round 1 in 2014. He was certain it was Mack or Sammy and that we would look at Mettenberger in round 2. He is the Andre Branch of reporters. Arrogant and easily replaced.
Idk if they realize the leo isnt the only guy who can get sacks
I can't take any grade below a B+ seriously. If you want to be super strict and say we didn't get an A because of the edge rush failures then I disagree, but fine it's defendable. Otherwise it was as good of a FA period as could have possibly been realistically expected.

The guy has a terrible tendency to contradict himself and avoids a question that may shine a light on his hipocracy by saying " ok, there's another talking point".

Yeah, he basically just says stuff just to say it, whether or not it makes any sense at all. A hunnid millon dollars to Vernon. Guaranteed. Really?

You.

"Jags showed desperation in the draft, should've inked Vernon to a bazillion dollar contract"
I just listened to his chat with the 1010xl guys and while his free agency grade of C- is a little harsh, I could see where he is coming from. I think the organisation is doing its best to spin the free agency story, but we did fail to bring in a pass rusher (even if that was a tall order) and he's quite right to try to expose that spin.

It looks like it's an unpopular thing to say, but I think he's worth listening to/reading even if you don't agree with him.

They addressed pass rush, just not with an edge rusher.

There was one premiere edge rusher ( who tallied fewer sacks in 2015 than Marks did in 2014) and he came out and said the city of Jacksonville is not big city enough for him.

When he claimed that the front office was unprepared going into free agency because they apparently didn't have a "plan B" to missing out on Vernon, Mike asked Ryan O what his plan b would have been, he retorted that they shouldv'e tried to sign Ayers. And Mike ever so casualy said "and they did that".

The guy's just talkin points with no leg to stand on.
I'm still trying to figure out how anything is graded before the test is taken

The jags are getting praise by completely unaffiliated members of the media.

The guys brought in are known quantities being independently evaluated. How exactly is that spin?

Just a few things here.

1 - O'halloran is clearly the one doing the spinning if he has you typing "we failed to bring in a pass rusher" because that's a false statement. We landed the best interior pass rusher available and made offers to two edge rushers.

2 - The nature of the free agency process is a gamble. Players' free will to sign elsewhere for a myriad of reasons (logical or not) must be considered. There's no foolproof method of winning the bidding war with other teams, and you have no assurances of the player fulfilling expectations. It's not a "failure" when a player simply chooses a different city/team/scheme for reasons we can only speculate upon.

3 - I was also disappointed that we couldn't land a vet LEO-type to rotate with Fowler, but I do recognize that Malik will benefit our pass rush. Directly and indirectly.

I think Ryan and others are attempting to sweep that under the rug to support their dissonant view. A view being voiced solely to attract attention with a negative headline.
I think his C- is harsh and unfair.

Yes, the team failed to acquire the outside pass rusher the team desperately needs.

But pass rusher, while the biggest hole, was far from the only hole that needed to be addressed and far from the only position on the team that needed strengthening.

The secondary got clearly better with Amukumara and Gipson.  Gipson is the FS this team has lacked since Deon Grant left, and Amukumara, when he has been healthy, has been a good solid CB.

The offensive line got quality at LT with Beachum, who will either push Joeckel to get better or push him out of the lineup.  Either way, LT is deeper than it has been since the days of Boselli and Coleman.

RB is now set with quality and depth with the addition of Chris Ivory.  When Yeldon went down late in the year, Robinson did not pick up the slack and perform as well as he did a couple of years ago.  He seems to have regressed.  Ivory is bigger and more physical, and should be better between the tackles.

Finally, D-Line-even without the outside pass rusher, got better and deeper with the Jackson signing.  He was clearly a player in ascent this year in Denver, and he made a difference in a lot of the games this year.  His presence likely pushes Alualu off the roster and gives us another 3t that could potentially make disruptive plays inside.  Paired with a finally healthy Marks, there could be a lot of disruption of pockets and blocking schemes with their penetration.

To suggest at this early stage that this is a C-group is a tantrum of sports journalism.

I think that at the start of free agency we were expecting a genuine edge rusher. Not someone to apply pressure through the middle (although that's good too) someone who can rush the passer from the edge. I appreciate it was hard to get one, but we were unsuccessful. That's pretty clear. And I think it was a pretty big priority, going in to free agency.

Does that matter? We'll see after the draft (and ultimately when the season starts) but I think it's fair to pick the Jaguars management up on this point.

And while I think O'Halloran goes too far at times, I think it's healthy to have someone asking difficult questions.

That's why I think he's interesting to listen to, although I appreciate he's not to everyone's tastes.
