Come on Dave make it happen.. This guy is a beast.. What physical strength he would bring to a jags oline that so desperately needs.. This team would benefit from his leadership and experience..

I agree, although there's the chance he'll get the franchise tag. But I would be on board, the guy is great at run blocking and we'd really need a guy like that.

Also, in best case Cann can move to center and we are set at the interior line with 2 young players (Cann and Linder) and a guy in his prime (Osemele). Worst case (Cann doesn't adapt to centre), we'd have 3 great guards on the roster, a nice change from still seeing Beadles on the field.

Osemele is my offensive line priority, I much prefer it than going to get Mack.

Yeah - it kinda hinges on Cann's ability to play center - but with the money available to Caldwell in free agency, he ought to take a run at Osemele.

( They do still have Bowanko as a safety net.  I wonder how he's adapted to learning the tackle positions. )

For real. No more finessers like Beadles and Wiz. Need more Manuwai mauler types.
I like Osemele because he could also play LT in a pinch.

Although Osmele can play tackle in a pinch, his primary position is guard.  However, there is not a separate category for guard in relation to the franchise tag.  If they decide to tag him, he would receive the "offensive lineman" franchise tag, which is significantly higher due to the inclusion of higher paid tackles.  The franchise amount for him would likely be just under $14m for a one year deal. I think if the Ravens due decide to tag him for a year, and try to work out a long term deal, it would likely be a transition tag at around $12m a year and the right to match any offer.  This tag was used for Mack prior by Cleveland to save the interior lineman amount in a tag scenario.
The Ravens just placed their franchise tag on Justin Tucker, their kicker.  It does appear that Kelechi Osmele will be available in free agency.  Go Dave!

Harbaugh said yesterday at the combine they made Osemele an offer to be the second highest paid player on the team after Flacco, and they envision him being their left tackle of the future. Unfortunately, I don't think Dave is going to be offering him left tackle money like the Ravens are.

I think he's going to get locked up before FA.
I would outbid the entire league for Osemele if I was Caldwell.

How high would you go personally? If the Ravens are offering 11 mil/yr to play left tackle are you going to offer Osemele 12+ a year to play guard, which would be 50% higher than the second highest guard? I love Osemele but that's suuuuuuper expensive.

There are a lot of other good guards on the market. Brandon Brooks, Jeff Allen, Alex Boone, Amini Silatolu, Michael Harris were all very highly rated and are 27 or younger. Then there is a good group of very good 'older' guards like Incognito, Ramon Foster, Georff Schwartz, Tony Bergstrom, etc...and only Incognito is over 30.

No. Heck no. Too much for a G. At that rate you just draft a G/C. Or sign Mack.

I would draft another stud G in the 3rd Round and throw that silly cash elsewhere.

At that money not a hope in hell, didn't realise that's how much he's hoping to command. I retract my statement..

Boone would be a nice pick up as a consolation if the price is right.

Interesting. The fact that he has the potential to move to Left Tackle makes me wonder if Dave would want him even more. Insurance in case Luke doesn't improve to the level they expect? Hmmm....
I think the Jags have money to spend and they'll make it very tough on the Ravens to keep him if Dave really wants him.

Jeff Allen would be a better value than what Osemele will get and he can play OT if needed.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports the "buzz" at the Combine is free agent G/T Kelechi Osemele is "looking at" $10 million-plus per year.

Osemele has everything going for him; he's only 26, can play four positions along the offensive line aside from center, and will easily be a top-five free agent once others get franchise tags. The Ravens have reportedly been "aggressive" in trying to retain Osemele, who they view as their long-term left tackle, but it's probably going to take a big offer to keep him off the open market. The Ravens have already used their franchise tag on K Justin Tucker.

I don't see any reason why he couldn't play C at a high level, either.

Gus Bradley made hints at looking for improvements along the offensive line today. Why not go big and sign the best guy available? We have to spend the money anyways and he could potentially give us what we've been lacking since Vince Manuwai. You help keep Bortles upright and you help open holes for Yeldon.

So the answer to my question above would be yes? You would pay Osemele 12 mil a year to play guard when the current highest paid guard in the league is getting 8.5 million?
