He's always been terrible at running out of shotgun. Which makes him a bad fit for lots of schemes because they use shotgun so much these days. He's at his best when running from under center.

I think he wants to go to a contender but a contender doesnt want to pay him what he is asking for. I'm not opposed to signing him short term for the right price if he wants to come here. He's Adrian fricking Peterson. I don't know how many times his career has been written off as over and he keeps proving everyone wrong. I don't think he is a 400 carry back but could you honestly say that you wouldn't take a Fournette/AP backfield over an Ivory/Yeldon one? What a mentoring experience that would be... the player LF is always compared to splitting carries with him.

As has been pointed out ubiquitously, AD (and LF) both suck out of the shotgun. Blake has only ever played out of the shotgun.
It could be argued that Ivory/Yeldon would work better than trying to force either AD/LF or Bortles to play in schemes they aren't fits for.
Especially when you consider the opportunity cost of having to try to force that round hole square peg fit is missing out on Thomas, Howard, Lattimore, Hooker, etc.
As pointed out Adrian Peterson makes positively no sense here unless we are planning on running the majority of the offense under center next year.

Bortles from the shotgun with ivory and yeldon has been a total failure. Maybe it's time to change that. If rookie quarterbacks coming from spread offenses in college can adapt to taking snaps under center, a 3 year pro should know how to take a drop. If not, maybe we shouldn't be building our team around such a crappy quarterback. We'll see what TC wants to do but I for one hope he brings back the power run game.
I doubt Thomas will be there, we don't need to draft cb at 4 to play the slot in Lattimore, and Hooker straight up can't tackle and we already have a big contract FS. Olsen didnt use a tight end downfield. We havent seen what Hackett will do with our offense. And if we did draft Howard at 4 i think its safe to assume its for the purpose of making him a huge contributor to our offense.

I know, I've been the one saying the Jags ran 73% of plays from shotgun last year...and that that was barely above league average.
The thing is, we are already expecting a lot with Blake having to improve leaps and bounds for us to be a playoff contender. Now we are going to expect him to do that while also mastering 3-5-7 step dropbacks for essentially the first time in his career when footwork/balance is already one of his biggest problems? I don't think that's wise.
Or will going under center be a giveaway that it's a run?

I think asking a QB entering his fourth year to do such basic things should not be shied from.
He can do it or he can't.
I don't think it's too much on his plate. And I don't think it's as insurmountable as you apparently do.
