Emphasis on should not be.

If you were making a run for the big dance this year and don't yet have a solution at RB, I think AP might be the answer. But we're a team still building for the future. Sure TC talks about wanting to win now, and that's always him MO, but I have to think he still understands that we're also building and not quite there yet.

Then again, TC will do what it takes to "win now" even if that means signing older guys like Brandon Albert or Calais Campbell. In other words, I don't really see a team such as the Jaguars signing AP, but I wouldn't put it past Coughlin to go there.

Quote:As has been pointed out ubiquitously, AD (and LF) both suck out of the shotgun. Blake has only ever played out of the shotgun.

Yeah.......Ivory is such a beast in the Shotgun. Hey...Yeldon is even better.

And no, Blake has taken snaps under center. Your so dramatic at times.
Quote:People keep saying things like this but the reality is that Blake's percentage of snaps from shotgun are very close to the league average.

We don't know Hackett's intentions in this regard - but to assume that Hackett couldn't install a number of effective running plays with Blake under center seems ridiculous to me.

If the line is improved, this "running from under center" thing shouldn't be some major stumbling block.

Man. Based on Ky's logic then, Leonard fournette is probably gonna go undrafted. Poor guy.

I know right!

Fournette could run for 1000 yards out of the shotgun. Not to mention open up the pass game with play action.
I am drowning in logical fallacies from the last handful posts.

I get it, there is no amount of logic or evidence that could convince some people that passing on taking Fournette at 4 could be a good idea.

Sure, it could definitely be a bad idea to take him there. But at the same time, whether you think the value is there or not, there's a chance it could be a good idea too.

If he really is the next Peterson, are you really going to complain in 4 years that he was drafted too high?

You're overthinking it. If you were making some sort of case based on injury or being able to find later round talent, I could at least see that, but to me it basically sounds like you don't want to draft an elite running back because you're worried that our crappy qb in our crappy offense may have to make some changes. You have a chance to pick a beautiful 2017 F-350 flatbed and you're passing because it's going to hurt the feelings of your 92 oldsmobile when you drive the truck to work.

Yep, because we saw how Peterson clashed with an offense that wanted to be ran out of a shotgun the past 3-4 years. RB is more about scheme fit and versatility (or specialization in a multi-back offense) than perhaps any other position.

I don't think he's an elite running back.

Also, Jesus Christ I've made the argument about his ankle and the depth of the class 100000 times. It's the entire package that should be passed on.

I can't imagine the mental gymnastics you are going through to justify that he is not elite.

If I used the word elite to describe Fournette what words would I have to use for someone like Zeke or Derrick Henry from last year? Super duper elite? Or heck even Mixon and McCaffrey...just super elite?

You talk about the entire package then you drop Mixon's name... a guy who's "entire package" is going to get him dropped to the 3rd round, maybe worse. If you can't see that Fournette is elite, you are missing what basically every scout and talent evaluator has said for 2 years. You just don't like him for whatever reason.
Fournette is 240 pounds and just as fast as Cook. That's elite. He's a bruiser. Something we need badly.

Fournette doesn't play nice with his twitterscouts sparq metrics and spider charts.

Mixon broke a girls face and we have a clear tape of it. Dont bother framing the situation like its indicative of talent in any way because everyone knows its not.

He also doesnt play nice without gaping holes and toss plays

Fournette is not in cooks league. I get it. Yes hes big and can run.

But he is not a great pass catcher. And with our line. Who has very few changes. He would not excel.

If need more proof ivory and yeldon didnt do much. But grant rocked it.

Why is that? He is an ellusive back.

His character is part of the total package. If he's trouble, thats bad for the team and talent doesn't help when you are suspended.

and Cook is a poor pass blocker with ball security issues and character concerns. You're making Fournette sounds like a caveman wielding a cudgel, he's more elusive than you give him credit for.

There's a very good chance the Fournette will be the pick. Are you all even going to cheer for him if we get em?

No one was talking about him off the field. Strictly on field talent.
