Top Non-QB Contracts for 2016:

Ndamukong Suh   DT    - $19.062mil

Justin Houston      LB    - $16.833mil

JJ Watt                  DE    - $16.667mil

Calvin Johnson     WR   - $16.207mil (Likely to retire)

Marcell Dareus     DE    - $16.095mil

Mario Williams      DE    - $16.000mil

Gerald McCoy      DT    - $15.866mil

AJ Green              WR   - $15.000mil

Robert Quinn       DE    - $14.253mil

Julio Jones           WR   - $14.251mil

Then players like Revis, Peterson and Sherman at CB show up with Demaryius Thomas in the mix.

Point is, DE and DTs are already getting paid, and in the Top 10 non-QB list, there are currently 3 WRs, 2 DTs and 4 DEs (I see you Justin Houston!).

Jackson and Vernon will get PAID.

Now go look up which position has the most players paid over $10 million per year and you'll see it's WR by a healthy 30 or 40%.

I know DEs and DTs are getting paid.  I never said they weren't.  However, a LDE which is a non-premium position, getting paid like Julio or AJ is ridiculous.  If we were talking about Vonn Miller, sure $14 million plus... Not Malik freaking Jackson though.  How many 4-3 LDE's are getting paid over $10 million in the NFL?  The answer is one and he's about to get cut (Charles Johnson).  After he gets cut, the highest paid LDE's in the NFL will be Jared Odrick, Carlos Dunlap, and Michael Bennett between $7 and 8.5 million.

Anybody who pays Malik Jackson significantly more than $10 million will significantly regret that decision and will be asking for a restructure as early as the following season.

mario williams (hopefully for a year deal or something cheap)

Jake long(see mario)

Re-sign wiz Sad

Myles jack

Bpa? Maybe best defensive player.

Javon hargeave

OdrickWilliams/senderrick/miller/fowler

Potentially make that second defensive pick someone who can man the leo or d lineman if theyre the best d player there which is possible. And hargreave in the 3rd too.
3 good defensive rookies that hopefully can all do things right away. 2 longterm players in the secondary and two short term additiona at de/lt. Hopefully Donte King cuts this girl fight club thing out and sacks somebody but if not weve got other guys getting after it. Sounds good to me Smile

Clueless post is clueless.
When does free agency begin in terms of when we know where players are going to be signing? There are a few days that are confusing me a bit. Need some help please Jags fans. I'm so anxious.

Thanks.

So basically March 9 is when it goes down.

Yes, but you need to be careful about what you read / hear from the seventh to the ninth of March. That's when Agents liberally and without restraint start spewing talk about "how close" such-and-such is to signing with this team, or how so-and-so team really wants "this guy".

Those three days are the days where the Agents are drumming up the market for their players, so a lot of talk that you may hear or read is a lot of fluff.

This was another answer I was looking for. Thanks.
What's up with Josh Norman? Is he hitting FA?

If he hits free agency we need to get him
There's no way Norman hits FA. He's either tagged (as far as I know Carolina hasn't tagged anyone) or he'll get the big contract.

GO JAGS!!

If Norman hits the market I would give him a blank check. He is a true shut down corner with good frame. Him and House would make a great combo with Colvin in the slot!

Vernon and Norman would be a dream. How much would Norman command and how much would he end up getting?
