He does... what do you want me to say?
Ray got arrested for weed right before the draft while Gregory failed the pre-Combine drug test and acted like an absolute flake in the interviews. Not really the same situation with Spence so far.

"So far......"

Spence has a track record and as recently as summer of 2015.

Fact is... Josh Gordon, Justin Blockhead, these guys with these drug concerns... teams are weary of these guys more and more now....

It isn't like Manziel and Winston... where guys position have people taking chances...

With the Dline being a deep position and "edge" rushers at a premium in the top of the first round this draft I think these guys will slide... but not to the 2nd... just out of the top ten.

Just my opinion.

Manziel and Blackmon and Gordon are going to really push Spence down the draft board for a ton of teams.
Quote:Yea Randy Gregory. Dropped to the second round.
One could argue Gregory was the better prospect as well

Context matters. You threw Ray and Gregory out there as if the situations were the same.

I threw out names of recent guys who had "character concerns"

Yes.. they screwed up right before draft time...

but they had track records of screwing up.

Spence, recently got in trouble just before the last season.

Nkemdiche's issues were just a few months ago....

splitting hairs talking about the time frame these guys made bone headed life choices.

If DC decides Spence is good to do, despite his past, then I'm OK with him selecting him.

I just don't think it's going to happen with the sour taste of the Blackmon situation still lingering.

I think you misunderstood.

Or you are trying to hard on your troll.

Either way... I think guys with problems like drugs, abuse, etc. teams are shying away from more and more, especially top of the draft teams that really need their guy to contribute right away.

That is why those guys get chances taken on them in the mid to late teens. Because Denver didn't need Shane Ray this year.

Because a team with 3 pass rushers, can take one with troubled past. A team with 0 pass rushers shouldn't take one with a troubled history.

If you don't think Gordon makes Cleveland think twice about drafting a guy like Spence or Nkemdiche, I don't know what to tell you.
I do think Spence's ultimate spot he will be selected in the draft will be effected by his addiction and most recent incident.  I believe he is a top 5 talent that will slide down into the 11-20 range due to the risk.

That's pretty much summed it up. Unless someone feels the talent is worth the risk.

Right now, I don't think the Jaguars can afford to take big gambles in the first round of the draft.

No. I just watch him and nothing he does wows me even on his highlights.

I read he is versatile. Okay a slice of bread is versatile too: you can use it as a hot dog bun, make sandwiches, pizza crust, a burrito, a mini sub but it doesn't make it good substitute for what you should be using.

Yeah I agree his college tape is kind of underwhelming but the reason he's going to go high is because he is nowhere near a finished product and could potentially play CB,FS,SS, or LB role like Deone Bucannon all at a very high level. Add all this to his leadership ,passion and freaky athleticism and you have a top 5 prospect.

Not a fan of that potential [BLEEP] or projects

So you suggest we draft people with limited potential? Brandon Weeden types?

Because what you just wrote is what I said.

Teams will move Spence (troubled past) down their draft boards because of Manziel and Blackmon (troubled past)

I suggest we draft play makers. Ramsey looks average. Especially against the pass

Was only pointing out why Ramsey is touted as a top 5 pick. I agree he's not the bulletproof prospect people make him out to be.

In the case of Ray, it wasn't until the arrest that people started dropping him. With Gregory, the failed Combine test and being a flake during the interview process dropped him. By all accounts, they were highly thought to be going in the top half of the draft before the arrest/Combine screw-ups happened. So yeah, context matters.
