Quote:Nelson was not happy with Jags....I don't see him coming back.
I wasn't a Jag fan when they drafted Reggie. But hasn't everything changed since? Seem to recall Del Rio wanting Reggie to play corner but I may be mistaken. Regardless Jack isn't here now.

Reggie Nelson balked at the idea of moving to cornerback.
if we got Ramsey I would want him to play SS, and draft a Corner conversion to be a FS.  Something about him I don't like as a free safety.  Lack of interceptions or a lot of his highlights coming at or around the line of scrimmage.  I just don't see him as a centerfielder.  I'm okay picking him around pick 12 but not at 5 no way.

If I'm making the pick at 5 I'm taking a passrusher or Myles Jack.  I patch at FS with FA's, converted corners, try and get another rusher in Free agency but at 5 I'm picking a difference maker in the front 7 before I even touch the defensive backfield.

What we need right now is a natural FS. Converting a CB is OK if he had a lot of prior experience at FS, but this is not the time to make a corner without safety experience change positions.

Trading out of the top 10 is only acceptable if we get a 2017 first round pick in return. We need to stay at 5 unless the 49ers want to jump over the Ravens.

Will somebody inform MissJagsFantastic that this makes me very sad.

LOL Probably not.

All the answers to what?

The tests!

Sigh.....you will never know.

I don't blame him.

Reggie is a natural, ball hawking center fielder

That is exactly what the Jaguars need right now.
Quote:If some how Mackensie Alexander does fall to us in round 2 I would be beyond happy at that.
I would love Alexander to fall to us too in round 2, but I don't see it happening.  The top defensive backs taken in the draft could easily be 1. Ramsey, 2. Alexander, 3. Hargreaves.
Reggie Nelson likes to freelance.  Todd Wash has made it very clear that he wants disciplined, assignment-oriented players.  So I don't see Reggie coming here.

I feel like Ramsey is an elite athlete but not an elite Free Safety. As a corner he is slightly above average. When I look back at say Earl Thomas...I see a strong, great instincts, fast ball hawking centerfielder. With Ramsey I see a versatile (but very good athlete) that can play all over but I don't know if his versatility necessarily means he is elite at one position...it just means you have a guy who can be serviceable in positions on the back end if needed.

Over three seasons, the 6-foot-1, 201-pound Ramsey played several positions in the defensive backfield but settled at cornerback as a junior. In 2013, he was the first Florida State freshman to start at cornerback since Deion Sanders in 1985, and Ramsey started all 41 games of his collegiate career.

Jalen mostly played cornerback and settled on the position, yet he is mocked as an NFL free safety...what am I missing?
Quote:That is impossible because you can only go to college for 4 years.

Unless you try.

He is mocked as a cornerback.
Most recent mock has us taking Jack in the 1st and Mackenzie Alexander in the 2nd.

However also available at our 2nd round pick, was Dodd, Ogbah, Bullard, Jaylon Smith and Joseph. If that played out, would you select in the 2nd?
