Quote:It certainly does matter how you win and lose. So does the point margin - were the games blowouts or close either way?
No. It doesn't matter how you win.

Just win. Don't care how it happens. Just win
Quote:Go watch how utterly futile we looked against the Texans both games really, and then how the fairly meh Chiefs completely dominated the Texans in the playoffs. We still have a ways to go.

Easy translation: Reid>Bradley

So you don't care if we get dominated statistically all day and get lucky at the end? When that happens, we did not deserve the win.
Margin of victory (or defeat, as it were) may not tell everything, but it does indicate progress in my estimation.

However, if we're still saying that next season or the one after, then you've stagnated.

So from that point of view,  do you believe that the Packers didn't deserve their win against the Lions back on Thursday Night,  December 3?

LOL No because the Packers actually came back in the second half. It was not four quarters of domination by the Lions.

Anyone that watched the game and is objective would say that the Lions clearly outplayed the Packers.  It's meaningless though.  I would take a win any day of the year over stats and performance grades.

I would take a win too. I was just saying if you want to know how close this team is to the playoffs, you have to look at things like strength of victory and defeat instead of just the letters W and L.

The bottom line is teams have to take advantage of their opportunities.   A one point loss might look better than a 40 point loss.  In the end though,  they count the same.

Regarding the Jaguars,  the team certainly has the potential to make a sizable jump in 2016.    In addition to upgrading some positions and getting some other players back from injury,  the coaches and leaders on the team have to find ways to get the team over the hump in close games and in games that look promising on paper.   It's easier said than done for a team in the Jaguars situation but ultimately the team brass will be judged by ownership by W-L.

God no.

If we win in the end, I don't care how it happens. If the Jags won the Super Bowl because of a lucky play at the end, would you be disappointed because we didn't "deserve" to win.

A win is a win.
Disagree. Bortles and the WRs were great.

#31 scoring defense

#26 running game

#31 offensive line

#30-32 kicker

#32 head coach

LOTS of work to do! Who knows if Bortles throws for 35 TDs and 4,000 yards again with 2 1,000 WR seasons.....if that DOESN'T happen again next year, are you comfortable with the above carrying the team? I'm not.

Quote:Disagree. Bortles and the WRs were great.

If that doesn't happen again I'll be surprised if our record isn't much better.

It won't be.

I'm the biggest Bortles supporter in the world and I bet he throws 26-28 TDs next year with 3,400-3,800 yards. This team has a harder schedule and EVERY part of the team besides QB and WR is BELOW LEAGUE AVERAGE. We are far away and Bortles and the WRs were the only reason we even competed.

Unfortunately, we don't have a competent head coach so hopefully Dave Caldwell upgrades ALL other positions. Doubtful though, he will keep Myers kicker, JOKEel, others.

We don't even know how difficult the schedule is. People said we had a brutal schedule last year.

This will be a different team in 2016. Competitive teams should no longer be heavy favorites against us assuming we make the right moves this offseason.

Next year's schedule is always difficult.

Until it isn't.

Sprinkles is a lot lower than #32, he's not even the best head coach on the Jaguars staff.

6 or 7 more wins?

Who said we had a brutal schedule last year? Nobody expected the Panthers to be so good after a 7-9 season. Everyone was saying we had an easy schedule because it included the NFC South, Bills, and Dolphins.

The Dolphins, Colts, Patriots, Falcons, were considered Super Bowl contenders before this season by multiple analysts

The Bills were considered a team that was turning the corner thanks to its defense. The Jets were a team that was considered "a QB away" from being a playoff contender

The Ravens were expected to continue being a playoff team

No one that knows anything about football thought we had an easy schedule before the season.

Nobody was thinking this when the 2015 opponents were determined. That happened before the playoffs started.
