Quote:He's gonna beat out Yeldon here but he couldn't do it at Alabama. Lol.
Don't you realize what an asinine take this is?
It had nothing to do with "beating out."
It had to do with seniority.
Yeldon "beat out" Derrick's collegiate accomplishments? Just stop and think for a second. Maybe a little more. Maybe a lot more.
Quote:If he's there in the second round and no one else graded as high, hard to pass up.
Just about every team wanted to move him to LB coming out of HS. Then he goes and becomes one of the best college RBs ever.
Not sure why some still refuse to recognize him for what he is. Special. At RB.
I can't stand Alabama. But I have the sense to have proper respect for those who have earned it.
Nobody doubts what he did in college, however college production doesn't automatically lead to NFL success.
How many other RBs have come from Bama and Wisconsin, who destroyed college football, only to be nothing more than average at best, in the NFL? He isn't going to have the advantage of playing on one of, if not the most talented team around, like he did at Bama. As we all know, everybody is good in the NFL.
Like I said, I see him as another Brandon Jacobs type RB. Get him in with a group of RBs, where you can bring Henry in, in the 3rd and 4th quarter to pound down on a defense while having the lead. I think he'll find his best success in that kind of role. Not a guy I'd spend a 1st or 2nd round draft pick on. He simply does not create his own production, like a good RB must do in the NFL.

Their collegiate accomplishments aren't really all that different. They just literally pounded Henry into the ground in his 3rd year because they didn't really have anybody else.
I'm not a huge fan of Henry. He's an upright and stiff runner who would rather try to beat you in a foot race than lower his shoulders and deliver the boom. There's no reason why a RB built like Henry should be getting tackled by the first defender instead of leaving a trail of defenders in his wake.
With that said if he happened to fall out of the first and into the second or third round of the draft I would be highly tempted to bring him on board and hope like heck that a little coaching will turn him into the next Eddie George and not the next Trent Richardson.

You must be riding real high on just that Heisman trophy, considering he wasn't even the best all around player in the running anyways. Christian McCaffrey was far and away the best all round player in college football this past season. He should have won it, but he gets the shaft because he plays on this side of the Rocky Mountains.
But either way, maybe you should go look up both of their college stats and compare them, since you seem to think it's so lop sided lol... But, it's clear you don't have any clue lol.
How would you rank the following RBs just on pure talent if they were all eligible for this year's draft and completely healthy?
Henry
Elliott
Chubb
Fournette

I said in another thread I wouldn't touch him before the 4th round.

In my opinion.
Fournette (although I still feel the same about LSU RBs as most Bama/Wisc RBs.)
Elliott
Chubb
Henry
Edit: I also haven't seen a whole lot of Chubb, so that sways my opinion some.

Hate to destroy you, but you asked for it...

Have fun finding Yeldon.
I think Henry can be a solid RB but he'll need a solid line in front of him. Could see the Cowboys taking him in the 2nd.
Quote:I know you're new and all, but I'm pretty sure they play more than just 1 season in college football.
New? He's been around longer than you have.
Second, your point was to compare their seasons, which he did. If you have a problem with his comparison, then you have a problem with your own argument.

To be fair he said compare their college stats. I assume he was referring to their entire body of work, not just a single season.

knarnn hit the nail right on the head. I CLEARLY said compare their college stats. I said nothing about 1 season.

They both have played one full season. That's all you can compare.

So, you're saying you can only compare Yeldon's freshman year, to Henry's junior year? Is that honestly, really what you're trying to say??..
I wouldnt draft Henry as a Jag unless we hit very very well in FA and the first two rounds of the draft, then I would maybe take him in the third.
I do believe he would do well with a team with a good Oline, I could see someone like the browns/texans drafting him in the second tho.
If for some reason the Jags picked an early round RB (they should not at all), Zeke Elliot would be about the only one that is remotely interesting.

Or maybe Henry didn't start over Yeldon because Yeldon is a better all around back? Maybe Yeldon pass catches better? Maybe Yeldon is a better pass blocker? Maybe Yeldon actually has change of direction ability and can avoid getting stoned? Collegiate accomplishments =/= NFL success. I will take an every down, all around back like Yeldon over a guy who is basically going to be a short yardage specialist in the league any day. If Henry breaks contain will he have long gains? Sure, good luck with him breaking contain not being able to avoid anyone. He's not jus going to put his head down and run guys over in the NFL. He needs to be behind a line like Dallas to succeed in the league, which is why he wants to be drafted by them.
