BAP BAP BAP BAP BAP BAP
You obviously did not read my entire post. I wrote BEST AVAILABLE DEFENSIVE PLAYER.
And in case you have not noticed, Dave Caldwell is a needs drafter.
Quote:You don't pick a left tackle at #5 when your top need is on defense. Leremy Tunsil may get very high grades, but none of that matters if we can get an elite defensive player because that is our top need this year.
If Tunsil is the BAP when we are on the clock, you take him.
I love how you come at people like they're wrong when you are constantly wrong yourself.

Best available defensive player is NOT the same as BAP, lol. It is still needs drafting if you pick a defensive player when you have an offensive player graded hire.
Do you understand what best available player means?
Also, I don't think Caldwell is a needs drafter.
For example, if it came to our pick and they had Treadwell graded higher than Bosa, they should pick Treadwell. People would be up in arms because we don't "need" WR, but that is how BAP works.

There is nothing wrong about thinking we need to start the draft with defense. Everyone knows that side of the ball is bad on all three levels, right?

Caldwell has always been a needs drafter. It's pretty obvious.
Of course I understand what BAP means. I also understand there is absolutely no reason to pick a WR when we already are stocked at that position and have many holes on the defensive side.

CLEARLY YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT BAP MEANS.
If you want to create a new category called Best Available Player that fits team needs, then you have a point.

I perfectly do understand it Stroud. And that is exactly why I don't like BAP picks. Nothing anybody says will make me change my mind on the matter.

Not trying to make you change you mind, just trying to make you understand that BAP has nothing to do with what you already have on your roster.
Also, I don't think DC is a needs based drafter. We have so many holes, I understand how it could look that way.

Lol! Draft him,, this defense could use some "killer-mentality"!
I'm joking of course.
Quote:Then you better hope 49ers, Buccaneers, and Giants don't trade up with Joey Bosa in mind. Defensive end is on their list of needs.
All I meant was that if he is there, the Jags should draft him.

Remember when the Jags had Monroe on the roster, and you (plus many others) claimed there was no way they would draft a LT because it wasn't the biggest need? What happened that draft?
Oh yeah, they drafted a LT.
Just saying, you never know what/who will be drafted.

I'll admit. I wasn't one of the people sad to see Monroe go because I was under the impression Joeckel was going to be good or even elite. He looked too much like Tony Boselli to be a bust in my eyes and I was in denial. Also, the year he got hurt in his first game at LT against the Rams, I remember he stonewalled Robert Quinn that game before he went down, and that got me excited about the next season in which he turned into what you see today.
Now that I think about it, I wonder how bad that injury actually was.

I personally didn't think they would draft a LT that year either (although I understood there might be a chance since Joeckel was thought to be one of the top BAP of the entire field).
I wonder if DC would do the same sort of thing, knowing the O-line still needs some work?

I don't think Stanley is in the same class as Turnsil, and I don't think the tacks are dumb enough to pass on Turnsil with their girlish framed QB not making it through the season. The only way Stanley would be BAP is if we traded down, which I truly hope we do not.
Quote:I'd be pretty surprised to see the chargers not draft Tunsil, and that's if the titans don't take him first.
It certainly would make sense for the Chargers to take Leremy Tunsil, if available. Between injuries and performance issues, the Chargers Offensive Line has probably been their most problematic part of their team the last couple of seasons. If the Chargers want to get a few more seasons out of Philip Rivers, who IMO is the most underrated QB in the NFL, they need to protect him much better.

I never said we won't pick a left tackle. I said we
shouldn't pick one. And I was right because Luke Joeckel is a downgrade from Eugene Monroe. So there is an example of when teams should
not get the BAP.

I will be totally shocked if we don't pick a defensive player at #5. Yes, we need offensive line upgrades, but everything I read implies we will start the draft with defense.
Didn't Williams drop because of injury concerns?
Speaking of Turnsil, he BETTER be good, because that is a bad last name to have as an LT if things don't work out.
