And says your assault rifle isn't very sporting.

..he stops short of calling it a compensation mechanism.

Quote:Basically makes the case 25 years ago for a small portion of Obama's executive order.

Not surprising.
Quote:Well my point is that you can cherry pick a stat to try and support whatever you want.

I'm really happy for Australia, seems like a wonderful place. That doesn't mean anything to me however and I want to retain my right to own an assault rifle.

What do you do with your assault rifle? Anything fun?

Well he is a world leader being controlled by a globalist agenda. Politicians from both parties you will notice act remarkbly similar in office despite their "beliefs".

Stroke it

No, it spends most time in a safe.

Seems a bit pointless? So you can't even use it unless the guy coming to kill you lets you open the safe?

There is more to owning a rifle than home defense. It is a cultural thing you would never understand living in Australia. I thought you were tolerant of other cultures. Why are you such a bigot?

Also, most people would use a well-placed pistol for home defense, not an assault rifle. My .40 always within range to defend against a potential home burglary. My rifles stay locked up, only coming out for cleaning, target practice, hunting, or to defend my country from tyranny Wink.

It's not good for every day home defense.
So why does everyone always bang on about self defence? Why don't you just say guns are fun?

It is about self defense. Who you might defend yourself against requires different weapons of choice. Alien invasion? I'll choose the AR-15.

It's about more than that though. It's about the second amendment and it's purpose.

I never said you couldn't have another opinion? I just have the opinion that having guns openly available for anyone to buy isn't a good idea. I'm sure shooting them at a target can be fun. Shooting them at school kids less fun.

I'll take my chances against aliens I'd obviously be outgunned if they have technology to bring them this far anyway.

Why didn't people stick up for the 18th Amendment?

Enough with the tyranny. Mugabe. Idi Amin. Stalin. Chiang Kai Shek. Hitler. Mao. Pol Pot. These people were tyrants. They killed millions by their rule. "Defending (your) country from tyranny" makes you sound like one of those clowns in Oregon throwing a hissy fit because you don't like what an elected leader or a government decides to do. You're not defending against tyranny because you have no clue what real tyranny is. You are just aping right wing pundits who like to throw that word around for big effect. When Obama starts rounding up those who oppose Planned Parenthood or LGBT rights and publicly executes them, then you can defend against tyranny. I'll join you. Until then, stop using that word. You sound ridiculous. It belittles the efforts of true tyrants who put in a lot of work to earn that title.

He was also an avid marksman and proud member of the NRA. I would love to hear you debate with other conservatives about how Reagan was just another leader controlled by a globalist agenda. But hey.. if it doesn't fit your narrative..

Why didn't people stick up for the 18th Amendment?

Because it curtailed freedom and permitted crime to increase, just like removing the 2nd would.

Did any of those guys just show up one day and take over? No, but the minute they could grab everyone else's guns they sure as hell did.

Edit: It was also fun watching your hero and the new Pravda work their propagandist magic in that fake Town Hall last night. Khrushchev couldn't have done it better himself.

Nobody is taking away guns. Nothing in this executive order takes away guns. That's the boogeyman myth that has been fed to gullible people for years (and ignited record gun maker profits). So since Obama is NOT taking away guns, call him whatever other names you want, but don't call him a tyrant. Even if he DID take away guns with this executive order, he would be a pretty poor tyrant to do so months before he leaves office. Real tyrants do that sort of thing before they take over an opposition group by force because they plan on being in power for a while.

You'll have to find that quote where I call Obama my hero or say I agree with every move he made as president. Happy hunting for that.

My assault rifle(s) have one specific purpose go protect my homestead in case of an overwhelming force attempts to take it.
