I definitely understand that, but we desperately need a playmaker.

We need playmakers on the defensive line. In the secondary all we need is play stoppers.

Disagree to the play stoppers part. I don't even know what that means. Cyprien makes a tackle after a 12 yard run by the RB.. He stopped a play. Kam Chancellor forces a fumble after a 12 yard run by the RB.. He made a play.

We need defensive lineman badly, but to be honest, this team was missing Marks and Fowler.

I just want to know what makes Ramsey special to be considered a top 5 pick? You see the tape man it's nothing crazy and now I see those stats I have to question, you know? I want to believe in him, I really do, but I also don't want to get fooled into the hype.

No, we need both.

When our DL has been adequate, the second level (LB and DB) hasn't made plays.

When the DL hasn't been adequate, the have looked that much worse.

One without the other and you're still getting torched either way.

It means we don't need a Marcus Peters who had a lot of INTs, but was also the most targeted and most completed against CB in the league this year. We need a guy more like Ronald Darby who just didn't give up completions period.

Nah sorry. Our defense needs a Peters more than a Darby.

Nah our D needs to not give up TDs more than it needs turnovers..Darby>Peters.

Yeah, ok.
I think we need more of a Patrick Peterson over either of those guys. PP is a little bigger but the way he plays is the best comparison IMO

Funny... Just as I say this, Adrian Peterson runs for about 12 yards and Kam Chancellor forces a fumble and a huge momentum shift for Seattle. He should have just tackled him and stopped him though!

Then Chancellor got shown for the liability he is in coverage. PI call and then gets burned by the TE for a play should have led to the game winner but Walsh choked. Olsen is going to eat Kam alive next week.

Haha knew someone was going to reply with something like this. He made the play that won them the game....

Anyway, who cares. I'm still trying to figure out why Ramsey is the consensus pick right now.

At least be fair in your assessment. Kam gambled on trying to break up the pass instead of simply making the tackle after the reception. I would say he made a bad decision not really got burned.

He may be a liability in coverage sometimes but the guy makes game altering plays for his team.

I am also curious as to why Ramsey is the consensus pick as of right now.

Fair assessment? Did he not get beat for what should have been the game winning catch?

Chancellor is very good at the line but he is not a good cover safety. Earl Thomas bails him out a lot.

Thank you sir.

Let's talk...

So what's your honest opinion of Ramsey? I like his size, speed, intensity, and motor, but I'm not a complete fan of his actual game tape and lack of production. Ive also seen him cost his team a few times trying to make plays on his own. His best game he played was last year at Miami. Absolutely stole the show, but besides that? Not much..

I feel like a lot of people want Ramsey, but have no clue why they are even saying it.

I WANT Ramsey to be the best option because we reallyyyy need what people picture him as, but I'm major skeptical and will keep a close eye.

"Should have been"

Our of curiosity, who's your pick?
Best case scenario would be Houston trades up to Tenn then they trade up to us with Houstons picks

Not even close to sure yet. It was Jaylon Smith before the injury.

This is the dilemma that I think Dave and the Jags will have. This is also why you see Ramsey a lot as the "consensus" for the Jags. IMO, Bosa is the pick if he somehow slides. But let's set Ramsey aside for now...

Our biggest needs are pass rush, FS, interior OL, maybe LB. Other than Bosa, there really isn't a top DE out there. No other FS is worth it at 5. Tunsil and Stanley are the top T prospects, but Tunsil likely won't be there and I don't know that we are ready to spend another top 5 pick on a T after Luke.

Injuries have hit Smith and Jack (who likely wouldn't have been a fit with us already having Telvin). The next position group that has a chance to be picked is probably CB with Alexander and Hargreaves, though personally I have question marks on both that make me hesitate taking them top 5. Treadwelll? We're definitely not going to take another WR after all the investment we already have on offense and the development of the Allens.

Nkemdiche? He's an option, but he's not really a LEO and there's some off-field questions there with his fall. Do we just go dline with Buckner regardless of where he plays and add him to rotation?

As you can see, from a fit, talent, and value standpoint....who the Jags can take at #5 is very very questionable after Bosa and Ramsey.

So far, I've stated "why not" the other guys. But why Ramsey?

Well, when you look at the draft, you have to project where guys will play. Ramsey played mostly CB last season, and they blitzed him quite a bit. I think that's something that we can use him for here, but I don't expect to the same capacity that the Noles did. He has the speed to cover sideline to sideline as a FS. He's a good tackler. He has the size and physical ability to go up against corners, backs, and TEs. Considering that we have this hole that Dave and Gus has had a problem filling?

To find a guy who fits that need makes too much sense.

Going back to the top 5 (maybe top 4 since I assume at least one QB will be taken), I have Bosa then Ramsey. After that? I have not made up my mind. But as I explained, I don't think any of the other players that will be available are as good of a fit for what this team needs as Ramsey at FS.
