There are going to be a bunch of people disappointed when Caldwell doesn't sign or draft a left tackle.
Anyways my top five positions of need are:
1. DE
2. FS
3. LB
4. TE
5. C

You're probably right, but it doesn't mean it's not a need. Regardless of what the obnoxious Oehser says every day.

This. The first or second pick needs to go for an LT. I'm okay with the first pick being used on defense, but we must get a quality LT.
Defensive End Olivier Vernon or Mario Wiliams
Free safety Tashaun Gibson or Jalen Ramsey
Linebacker Bruce Irvin
Center Alex Mack or Ben Jones
Cb Leon Hall or Prince Amukamara
P Drew Butler or Brad Wing? Haha
FS and LEO go hand in hand as the biggest needs

LT could definitely be upgraded, no debate about that. But:
Up until yesterday, there were many posters that thought Joeckel was doing fine for most of this season. After the first few games, Joeckel was playing okay (not great, not pitiful either) for most of the season. Not many considered LT to be a weakness, and thought the main issue on the left side was Beadles. I really didn't see alot of people even mentioning a change at LT (I only recall most wanting to upgrade LG and C).
Joeckel was playing okay. And then yesterday happened. It was probably his worst game to date. Unfortunately, being the last game of the season, that is the lasting impression of him for the offseason. No doubt, he got beat like a drum. However, I saw JJ Watt also torment Andrew Whitworth and Andre Smith (2 of the best tackles in the league) earlier this year. He gives even the best O-line personnel trouble. So that should be part of the consideration.
I wouldn't mind if Caldwell made some sort of change at LT (draft or FA). But I really don't think he will.
O-line needs some work, yes. But the offense looked more than functional most of the year.
Defense is the ultimate priority.

This, very much so. I've been one of Luke's biggest critics. And I'm far from solved on him. But to replace him, you need to replace him with someone better. Do we spend FA money (and it will be big if we are to replace him)? Or a high pick (you'd need to if you want a guy who can unseat him, rookie vs. 4th year pro)?
Can we afford to do those things? I'm not sure we can given the needs defensively that we also needs to fill. While Luke will be a full-fledged veteran next year, he did come in early through the draft (21 IIRC?). He's still only 24. I'm not opposed to taking a shot at some competition at tackle (I wanted Clemmings and Collins last draft). I just don't think we can invest high resources at that spot just yet. He's shown enough improvements to convince me he can be an "OK" player.
While that's far from what you want out of a 2nd pick overall, its a far more stable position than our FS, LEO, or even interior DT (with Marks' health)
Top 5 areas of need:
1. Leo- hopefully Bosa, but more likely Vernon or 2nd round pick (Spence) in addition to Fowler
2. Otto- Irvin
3. Free safety- Ramsay or Gipson
4. Left tackle competition- Bring someone in to push Joeckel. Hopefully Mills will do this, but need to add either a free agent or draft pick (Theus in the 3rd round).
5. 2nd corner- Alexander in the 1st (if Bosa and Ramsay gone) or Jenkins/Johnson in free agency.
Just missed cut- center. Mack will likely be signed to big deal.
LT - needs to be upgraded in FA or the draft, but it's a must
C - (same as above)
DE - still need pass rushers in a bad way
SS and FS - still need guys that know where they're supposed to be in both positions
RB - we need a guy that doesn't fumble(D.R.), or stumble (T.Y.) all over the field

QB - Bortles is an Pick 6 Machine with a terrorist beard... he needs competition at his position just like everyone else.

Hahaha... Blame it on the beard... lol... well hes no Fitzgerald for sure..
Cmon.. Pick 6 machine?... tell it like it is..
BBINT :woot:
anyway he has competition.. Henne... maybe thats the problem :teehee:
We need Jalen Ramsey a game changing Safety like him. Also that whole d-line needs to be revamped. Also we need a kicker. I wouldn't mind taking Robert Aguyo in the 4th round.
Head Coach
DC
Pass Rusher
Safety
offensive line
Sam and Mike LB I like telvin blitzing the QB on the weakside
Every position could be upgraded at this point.

This.
Just reading this makes me lol at some of the ineptitude that some of yall posses. That is all.

If your safety and your LEO are hand in hand, someone has really, really blown their assignment.
DB - FS if we can find one but even a scary CB would do
DE - Hoping for good things from Fowler but lets get another good rusher
C - I don't think the answer is on the roster

WoW, PFF really doesn't like Blake Bortles huh? Tier 3 after throwing over 4k behind one of the worst Olines in the NFL and the youngest WR core & having a horrible defense so that he's always on the field?
18. Blake Bortles, Jacksonville Jaguars, 69.7
Bortles took big strides in his second year, taking advantage of downfield playmakers to lead the league with 1,330 yards on deep passes. Similar to Winston, Bortles was boom-or-bust, with 35 BTTs and a league-high 38 TWPs.

Normally I rag on PFF for being completely biased and useless in their evaluations, and while I think they're downrating Bortles significantly, the evaluation itself isn't too far off the truth. He was boom or bust pretty often this year, and that kind of goes hand in hand with being an aggressive downfield passer in an offense designed to get players open deep. There will be fist-pumping plays, and there will be head-hanging plays.
